Although I have never posted I have used this board for quite some time. I thought I should let it be known that I have met with summer, from here and "back" on backpage, for the last time today. She is staying in a hotel in flo town and must have a very bad habit. I've seen her many times by the funeral parlor and before that in the bad hood, but she has fallen and I refuse to fund it. I am not stupid I know that it happens but it is not cool to see it happen to someone you like.

Just a heads up, she hap people hanging outside the room, claimed they were not with her but when she thought I left I watched her jump in the driver seat of the van and head off to cracktown. All this after she told me she had no wheels and that she lost everything due to her ex- streetwalking roomate.

Finally I would like to address her use if this guide as a reference in her backpage ad. I would hate to see this board give credibility to someone who may misuse it.

Met with Edina in northern KY a bit ago. She is very nice, very accommodating, and orally talented. Scheduling was sort of a pain, due to her living arrangement and lack of a car, but if you work with her on it, she'll reward your efforts.

My question is, what is a reasonable amount of time for a hobbyist to call and cancel an appointment? I have lately been having issues with clients scheduling appointments hours in advance only to have them call within 5-10mins of the appt time to cancel. I understand that at times, there are certain situations where this may be acceptable such in the case of an emergency or etc. I'm just curious as to what the concensus is on this matter. Any opinions / comments regarding this would be great.

I realize you can't charge, but unless they have a positive track record with you in the past, I would be hesitatant to rebook with the same person unless there is some serious weather or traffic.

I personally feel you are a professional and want to treat the ladies who work with us the same way I want to be treated, but alas, YMMV.

I think the obvious answer is "as soon as possible" or "as soon as you know your plans have changed". The main point of giving adequate notice is so that they person with whom you have scheduled the appointment has time to make arrangements to fill a now empty appointment time, if possible. So, the earlier you can let that person know, the better. It just gives them more time to make adjustments to their schedule.

I know that is not really what you are looking for as an answer. As a general rule, I think Cincinnati Boy has it right. I work in a Professional field. Personally, I believe the minimum acceptable time in the business world is an hour before the appointment to cancel. I [B][I]could[/I][/B] see between a half hour and an hour before the appointment as being acceptable, though. With a half hour notice, I would expect a Provider to be able to schedule another appointment to fill the vacant time slot. Regardless, I firmly believe that 5-10 minutes before the appointment time is completely unacceptable, unless it is an emergency or something completely unavoidable.

Obviously, emergencies [B][I]do [/I][/B]happen and unforeseen events occur and cause plans to change. But, I agree with Cincinnati Boy that unless you have had past, positive meetings, I would not re-schedule with someone who does not provide satisfactory reasons for canceling or provide adequate time for you to make other arrangements. Ultimately it comes down to respect. The person should have enough respect for you and what you are doing to treat you fairly and how they would like to be treated themselves.

I would also like to reverse the question. What is the minimum acceptable time for a Provider to cancel on a Hobbyist? I know in some cases, Hobbyists drive 45 minutes to an hour (or more) to meet Providers. A wasted hour-long drive is very frustrating if a Provider cancels with too short of notice or needs to reschedule for a later time. Obviously, the Hobbyist must make known to the Provider before hand that they will be driving [U]xxx[/U] amount of time to see the Provider, so that she knows to call early enough to cancel. Personally, I would assume the Provider would add the drive time to the half hour or hour notice to make sure that the Hobbyist has not left yet and has the opportunity to make other arrangements themselves. But, I am interested to hear what others think too.

I don't want to make a big deal of it, but the Irish lass cancelled on me with about 15 minutes notice. It was a few months ago, and I didn't bother trying at another time, even though she offered me a "good deal" if I rescheduled. I do vaguely remember having to cancel (as I can count on one hand how many times I've actually had to) and to be honest with you, do not remember if it was 15mins before the scheduled time or not. I would never have said that I was cancelling because someone was willing to do an hr over the half hour I had already scheduled as I value each of my clients equally regardless if they've scheduled for 30, 60 or 120mins. Now whether there was some sort of miscommunication or assumptions made as to why I needed to reschedule, I can not comment. But think about it, had that actually been the case, why would any provider honestly tell a client that she was cancelling him for another client and risk losing his business? Wouldn't be smart, now would it? I believe and have been told as much, thru reviews & word of mouth, that I go above and beyond for my clients and given the repeat business by regulars & seniors alike, I would say that's the case. I personally hate cancelling and try to avoid it at all costs. For example, I recently had an early morning client and within 15 mins of is arrival time, I had a family emergency that required my attention at a local ER but because I knew that my client was coming from some distance to see me, I did not consider for one moment cancelling on him and given the review submitted, he left extremely satisfied. Again, I apologize Jalex for initially cancelling on you and if in the future you would care to reschedule, the offer for "a good deal" will still be honored.

It is also sad that just being honest is such a rare commodity don't you think? I am talking about hobbyist, just as much as providers here, neither side is clean on this particular issue.

But back on topic, I do have a hard time with the issue of canceling a half hour appointment in favor of an hour appointment. No offense intended, it is JMHO. I am a fan of Quinn's so there is no animosity here, just speaking in general terms.

I have even paid two providers (Both I had previously seen several times mind you) the hour fee when I had to cancel at the last minute because she had already made plans for the use of the donation, with the expectation that it would be made up at a later date. Duh, yah. They would mind, and they should. Just as a KG is justified to think that his lady would keep the previously scheduled appt. Now if she were to call and ASK if it was possible to reschedule, so she could take another appt, and it works fine for KG, then great. But I am with him, an appt. Is an appt. Is an appt. Unless cancelled well in advance and for a reasonable cause; (on either part).

Lets face it, some of these gals are living hand to mouth and stuff like this does happen to them, unfortunately. Now if it was any type of a set-up or other orchestrated action, then I would agree with you.

Making it right. Well that is between the two of them. Yes, if she is a quality gal she should, but what is key is safety and no drama (at least wthin her control). I have only been into the hobby for three years, part time at best. I really do appreciate advice from senior members and those with more experience than me. It really was the Rent-A-Center guy his truck was still in the lot when I left but, dam-it don't those guys schedule their time and I think she knew they were comming. I do feel like my time with that date was compromised and she at least owes me a discount if I ever see her again. That may be a big if. Right now I am thinking it's time to move on. Maybe I will stay south of the river for a while. I have been with a very nice lady in Florence. The options out there are endless. Just trying to stay safe.

R-a-C employees DO schedule for when they stop by usually, yes, but not the repo men. That would defeat the purpose of them being repo men. Their job is to bang on the door, make a bit of a ruckus if need be outside your door, and shame the occupant into either coughing up enough funds to keep them at bay, or go in with their rental agreement in hand stating that they're there to reclaim their company's property. if repo announced themselves... well, the different scenarios might be that the items in question get moved to another location, and good luck to them finding it; or perhaps that they get jumped as they arrive at their pre-arranged time and perhaps their truck tires are slashed. Can't return their items to the store if their truck can't move now can they? Anyway... As for George's comments on his own take on the situation? Yes... I agree with him completely. It was an unfortunate, unforeseen event that happened. No one can help when something happens like that (aside from paying your bills on time at least), and when something like that DOES happen, yes, the lass should apologize profusely, and offer to make it 'right' the next time that you visit. Potentially a discount on the service at hand could also work, but not in this case as GW's money went straight to R-a-C dude. Anyway... hate to hear that GW had a scare, but at least it was just that, a small scare and nothing worse. If he wants to mention his concern or dislike of the previous events and see what she might do to ease his mind (and wallet), then great, if not, then by all means there are fish a'plenty out there to cast the line towards. In no manner though should he 'out' the woman though. This was an unforseen event, not a BF or pimp breaking through the closet door to try and jump him. Things happen... for everyone. Forgive the instance for the poor timing on the guy coming for the stuff, forget the instance as one sees fit if she offers to make it 'right' for his scare or his desire to venture elsewhere.
