Well, at least it ain't as bad as Hawaii's law. Non-air conditioned beer bars / semi-enclosed places like are common in Pattaya can still allow it, besides it can't build up in those types of places anyways. They're exempt - for now.
It will be interesting to see how many places play along with it, they already openly brake numerous local laws already. If Hawaii is an example, the big nightclubs will comply most readily, the small backstreet bars with a high proportion of smokers probably least readily.

How correct you are Thumper. The outside air quality is down right awful in Bangkok and they are worried about the de minimus little smoke from a ciggie.
BTW it goes into affect on Feb. 11th. No time to even plan one last trip.

When I'm in Angeles City (Philippines), it's been irritating to put on fresh clothes before barhopping and then have them stink of cigarette smoke only an hour or so later. Also, because of selfish smokers, any and all of the non-smoking Filipina employees in the bars (dancers, waitresses, bartenders, cashiers, etc.) are compelled to inhale carcinogenic chemicals in an enclosed area for many hours, day after day.

You're referring to Gate 2 of Kadena AB. Most taxi drivers will know if you tell them Gate Dori. We used to park just inside the gate, but you need a military sticker to do that.
