A lot of people with a lot of different political leanings have doubts about the priorities of these expensive operations. Personally, my pet peeve is the fact that Metro just sends out a form to fill out and mail back when a car is stolen, with no attempt to follow up, so Vegas has now become the auto theft capital of the continent. In the old west, horse thieving was a hanging offense, and if somebody takes my 200 horse carriage I don't want to hear about mailing a form, I want them hanged, disembowled, and set on fire. It might also be kind of nice if someone had time to dust off a couple of quaint old laws that say green means go, red means stop, and everybody drives on the right side of the road in one lane at a time.

I wouldn't want some of the more outrageous indiscrete stuff by some of the most antisocial clueless agressive SWs and customers happening on the doorstep of my home or place of business every day, especially when the thuggish violent coercive behaviour of some pimps and wannabes is involved. But when it is discrete enough that it takes investigative resources to find it and figure out what it is, then clearly the rationale just evaporates, and it seems time to take a step back and ask just what purpose is being served.

Funny story and a good lesson learned.

Well a guy from our company was caught doing someone (i mean something) while on a business trip.

Well a day later someone did start up the laptop. It has a wireless card, and it must have connected to a wireless router with internet access. When I trace the IP i see that it's going to Cox cable, so they must have cable modem service.

I handed over the info to the Las Vegas PD and I tried to get info from Cox, but they would not talk to me about it. They said they only hand over that infor to law enforcement.

Well anyway LVPD got back to our HR manager with a police report, and all they got from Cox was a general location. And HR won't tell me the address where this occured, but Cox reported to the police that the IP address was handed out to a Cable modem in the same complex as where the co-worker car was broken into. Since the IP is leased out via DHCP for one hour, they don't know which cable modem it was released to.

But now I am thinking the Pimp is watching who is coming to visit their hos, in the Oriental Incall apartments. So watch your back. Don't take anything in the car that you don't want stolen...

Anyway LVPD is trying to help out. But it looks like the co-worker pretty much broke down during the police report.

I would not complicate matter by filing a falsify police report. But may be it is just me....

Good advise VB, I'd like to add that I never park in front of the incall or in a spot that the provider specifies. Walk to the location paying close attention to your surroundings and look for unmarked LE vehicles/vans, and up to no good pimps.
