It sounds like you switched banks because you went to TH which is on the 32nd floor.

If you were there at 10 pm, a security protocol takes over until the next morning and you won't be able to go 'Up' in any elevator without a key fob, and will only be able to go 'Down'. For such late appointments, the girl will have to come down and get you.

I don't know if they can override the elevator logic and force a car down, but I'm sure Security must have the keys for the elevator switches near the lobby doors.
