It sounds like a scam. Especially, if they want it before you go. I have never been asked not to bring cash.

You may or may not know that. It's hard to tell by your post count, and your one review, if you're serious or not. Review the pics in the ad. Does it look like they were taken in a european hotel or luxury apartment? Most likely not real. Check especially for the types of outlets, light switches, general decor of the place the pics are in. This is getting a little more tricky with photo edits, but you can still generally tell if the pics are in the US or not.
Obviously, skip the ones who require deposit. Never pay anything up front.
