As a triathlete, I have almost been hit MANY times running/biking by people texting while driving. Seriously, it is AMAZING how many times.

The ban is only for DRIVING. Whats the big deal? Where you going go on Oahu (save rush hour traffic) that going take you over an hour or so to get there? Wal Mart has Trac phone. I bought mine for $20 but it is now $15. They offer double minutes for life (DMFL) on that black motorola flip phone. The 60 minute phone card cost you $20. With DMFL, it comes to 120 minutes.

Thus, $20 / 120 minutes =.1667 per minute. If you get the 120 minute card cost $30 and will give you 240 minutes. 30 / 240 =.125 per minute. The minutes expire in 90 days so I just get the 60 minute card. Text messages cost 1/3 of a minute. Thus, if you sent 10 text messages, you would use 3 minutes.

I believe t-mobile also has a prepaid plan that charges a fee of $1.00 per each day you use the phone, in addition to a per minute fee. You really have to read the fine print for each carrier's plans. ATT and verizon's plans are more expensive.

It depends on who you go with, the phone I use doesn't lose minutes per month but will lose them if you don't buy more minutes within 150 days. I brought my phone for about $15 and the card for $30, could have gotten a cheaper card but I wanted to get more minutes. It does help you feel more secure and anonymous. Just be careful hiding it from the SO.
