Re: The Day Monger
From my experiances, I find that the early kbgs play more than the night ones. The early ones are the MILF types or older, but still they put out. I don't like to play at night cause the bars are busier and harder to play.
I concur. I haven't been able to prowl during daylight hours for a while, but in the past, when I would work nights, I'd hit the bars during the day and had surprisingly good results.

This would cause the girls during the day offer more "pupus" or extra services. That would be good for me and the other seniors.
I visted the old Maya's bar on Sheridan st. As someone else said, most of the girls are all older. In fact a couple of girls I sat with over 10 years ago! They were in their 30's then so now guess they are on their 40's. Time has not been good for some of them. The mama is a regular bar girl, you got to see her to believe her, I don't know how she got the money to open a bar. One J girl working there, just look for the tanned girl.
I didn't see any girl I would want to sit with so until I read differently this place won't be one of my stops to visit.
I visited this place again this past Saturday since I saw a number of girls that were there last week now working at other bars. I don't think I saw any bar girls working there now, the place was deserted. Part of the problem is that this new mama has no real experience running a bar. If you go in and see this fugly shorter older woman there when you walk in, that is probably the mama. The 2 bartendresses were probably the best looking ones there.
If the mama doesn't bring in new girls soon I would doubt it would even last a month or two.
I don't know how or why these inexperienced former hostesses would even try to be mama's and run a bar without any assistance from experienced people.

My ex used to be a daytime bartender and they work hard to cook the food and wait on customers. So when a cheap charlie comes along and asks for poki, kalbi, and steak then leaves only a couple dollars tip then it isn't worth it. Maybe thats why you will notice some customers getting a whole bunch of food and some only getting peanuts and chips.

You only want to drop a dime on KBG drink? Tell her so. If she don't go, it wasn't your game anyway, right? Hell, during slow times, I've told KBGs that if they want a drink, they can drink the same thing I am, at the same price, or they can walk over to the next pair of testicles. Don't puss out guys, draw the line in the sand.
Haven't been able to get around the last couple of weeks due to work schedule but saw that Olivia's (fka Silk Lady) is now Bonita Lounge. IIRC, that was the name of Minami's upstairs when the MS who took over brought in talent from Guam. Never got to check it out during that tenure, but was told there were some lookers. In my recon fly-by tonight, there were only the usual skanks. Day off tomorrow, so will check again, hopefully during primetime.
Colorful is pretty well dead. Stopped in despite my previously stated boycott, but found I haven't been missing anything. MS was bartending. I guess things are tough enough they want to shave payroll.

Or 10 and below? The house pupu thing can be very confusing as its meant to stir up business for the bar. I think most expect you to buy them a drink, but cmon is that really reasonable? I would just buy something off the menu at that point. Not to mention these bars advertise it as free. Me personally, lets say the food was terrible, I wouldn't pay anything for it. I think if its such a issue, the bars should just advertise,"House pupu: $15."

I not trying to disrespect anyone out there but I guess it just comes down to, you get nothing for free, meaning someone has to pay later. Like you mentioned about 10 dollars or below, I think most people know the prices on the KB menu and when the daytime bartender gives you a lot of food. 10 dollars doesn't even pay for one dish. It's just I used to hear the complaining everyday and I just tuned it out after awhile.

"House pupu" is supposed to be free. Provided by MS. Usually something cheap like spaghetti or a stir fry or shoyu hotdogs, stuff like that. Don't expect sashimi or kalbi as house pupu unless you are a premium customer (read: LVB) If you got charged for this, you been took.
Some KBs don't allow it nowadays, but it is customary for KBGs to buy food for their customers. They normally tip the kitchen mama for preparing and / or plating the food. Anything else is on the menu (literally) and has a price posted. Other than food you order off the house menu, it should be considered an inducement for nekohana.

The thing is girls really push for tips with it. I remember one bar I use to go to for Mon Night Football; around halftime the bartender would go around the bar with her jug collecting tips from everyone. A few times when eating house pupus server would always push for a drink. For these events, I try to stay away from accepting pupus now. But if its a buffet, then little different.

Didn't sound like you got the concept. But the fact remains, even house pupu is an inducement to spend. Nobody rides for free.
I guess you don't remember the old style where everyone would drop money on the table. It was understood that money was for dirnks and food. Everyone knew how much to put on the table. When pau, whatever was left was for the girl who took care of the table. If any guys wanted to buy girls drinks, that came out of their own pocket, not the table money. In those days, the food was serious grinds. There was a certain fairness that was understood. Then I guess a new generation came along and got cheap with the tips and now we have the current arrangement. This is why a lot of bars don't have any decent house food anymore.
Hmm. Maybe this should have gone into the Mongering With Ole Guys thread. Whatever.

House pupus don't cost the girl anything although she will be expected to tip the kitchen mama. Premium pupus she pays the menu price to the bar. So if you get premium pupus, she must either get nekohana or table tip to cover the menu cost. If you get a plate of sashimi and don't buy her at least one drink she is in the hole. Not to be too sympathetic; it's a profit / loss situation for them just like any business. If you have an open honest relationship with the KBG you can check with her if the tip is enough.

House Pupus
House Pupuos come out after 7 When the kitchen mama comes in. If you want house pupus from the daytime bartender then that's only Peanuts or Potatoe chips hahahahaahah If you want her own pupus then you better leave a tip. Its a game and they know it. If they don't know you, they gamble and wait till someone knows you or a girls knows you. If not then you shit out of luck. Think about it that pupu you had cost you $40. 00 possible 2 drinks for the bartender and her partner. We still loose out.

In kalihi
They know the people who tip and don't tip. Funny I have a friend that goes everyday to the bar and drink and sings. All the bars always give him good food. Found out why cause all the mama and girls knows he always go all around and they are afriad of him saying bad rumors about them so they always take care of him. They don't give him the TOP pupus maybe middle pupus just so that he doesn't say anything bad and the cusotmer that does that knows the bartender will take care of him.

Although they do not charge for these cooked pupus, they usually serve them up only to their regular customers, customers who buy them a drink (s) , or customers they want to entice to buy them drink (s). If you only get served peanuts and chips, then it's not necessary to buy the bartender a drink. When I sit at the bar and want heavy pupus before the change in bartender, I usually just ask if there are any house pupus. If I like what she has cooking, then I'll buy her a drink and ask for something to eat. If I'm not interested in buying the bartender any drinks, then I just ask for nuts and chips.
