Never give out your personal information. Rule I live by
Good evening gents. What is everyone's opinion on giving person info to providers? Seems more and more are asking and I get why they do it. On the other hand, report below about possible blackmail freaks me out.
Do you guys give personal info such as name or LinkedIn profile or skip providers that ask for such info. Just want to see what everyone thinks of this and what everyone does when asked for info.
No way, never. I'm P411, which allows a provider to verify you without you disclosing your real name to them. I didn't have to give 411 my real I'd when I signed up years ago, but I don't know if that is still the case. But even if 411 has your info, at least you're a level removed from the provider having it. I also signed up for room service also years ago, but then found out that I still had to give providers my real name and city, so never used it.
There are just too many potential down-sides. If they insist on my real info, I just move on. And don't believe them for a minute when they say they'll delete your info after you are verified. Why in the world would they do that, since they claim having your real info is for their own protection?
Burners - buy a burner phone, register it under a fake name, pay for it with cash. I've never been convinced that burner Aps on your regular phone were safe.
Don't ever give info to providers.

If you are worried about references, there's an approach I use that even tho take some time, it's worth it in the long run:
1. Find a provider you want to meet but she asks for references or personal info in order to do background checks.
2. Check if that provider have social media accounts (twitter, switter, IG, onlyfans, etc) and look for another providers she follows.
3. Hit those providers, usually at least one of them will be cool to see you without background check.
4. Be extremely nice with them (not saying give the more money or gifts, but be a gentleman and don't be pushy). At the second visit, ask them if you can use her as reference.
5. Hit the first provider again, give her the second pro's number. Then you are set.
Now you have at least two references that can vouch for you without the need of background checks. It worked for me in two different cities.
