If he had tased the officer he could have then taken his gun and used it. It makes no sense defending a person who takes an officer's weapon and threatens them with it.

That's what that police do, they respond to citizen complaints, investigate and make a arrest. The hotel deemed them a nuisance, did not want to throw them, too messy, so they call the cops.
