If they have arrested you, you'll have to think about how long you can afford to spend in holding. Then offer to sign a confession written by the cop, if they agree in writing to release you without bond if you sign. Then you can always later use that to argue they colluded the confession out of you. Also, you can use a threat to seize your property as compulsion to sign a confession. This varies state to state though.

The articles say, just as it says above, the people were pulled over in traffic stops. In one case was a passenger, some how the driver was pulled over, and LE must have asked for his ID. Attorney's say his case seems to be on shaky ground, given a number of things, invasion of privacy, warrants, pulled over under false pretenses, etc.
He has the money and incentive to fight this, most don't and will just pay the fines.
