Was going to go down with another monger but he bailed on me, oh well. It not my first time going solo. Looks like I'm going to go Monday night instead of tonight, never had a problem so knock on wood. Heading from LA so looks like I'm not drinking, looks like a quick turnaround for me. I always went solo. Could go and return when I wanted. Hit the bars I wanted to hit, walk out when I wanted, etc. , etc. , etc. My Spanish was (and still is) minimal. But never had a problem bagging chicas I was interested in. Never felt a safety issue where a wingman would have made any difference.
Go and enjoy yourself. Just don't do anything stupid.

I, personally, welcomed a wing man because in the few days before my first visit one of the members of our esteemed literary club was mugged and there was a random shooting. Having someone that knew the ropes was a fine security blanket.
That said, I am now confident enough that the next time I am in the area I will head there on my own and should do just fine. Better yet, I will probably post something on this forum asking if someone want's me to be their wing man.
Had the opportunity not arisen to have a wing man I probably would have been fine. I had done some research and gotten good advice. I am sure I would have found all the same info I ended up learning, but it was kinda fun going there with a friend.

What's it been like lately? Haven't been down in a few months. Thinking of heading down over the holiday wkend.
It is probably best to avoid this weekend unless you have a Sentri card or unless you are prepared to wait hours in line. The US customs employees purposely slow down so that they can get more overtime.

Arriving in San Diego Saturday morning through the week for work and planning on hitting Tijuana (for my first time) either right away on Saturday and / or on Sunday. I'm limited in times, though, as I'll be taking the trolley from SD and I don't want to be stuck until 4:30 AM. . . Or do I? This thread has been a great resource. And I'll continue reading. Bringing a few hundred dollars, US, does anyone have suggestions on what denominations or if / how I should separate it? If you use an Atm card at HSBC in Tijuana you get even more. Took out $500 in pesos today at HSBC and got 15.136 pesos per dollar and walked a half block to an exchange place and sold back pesos at 14.82 pesos per dollar. About $10. Or 2 percent profit in five minutes. I do this almost every day since I live in Rosarito.

You don't need that much Spanish, particularly if you stick to the bigger bars. They all know "fucky / sucky. " If you want to get a little more adventurous you could memorize "comer su panocha?" Up to 100 if you'll be dealing in dollars and up to 1000 if you'll be dealing in pesos.
