The fact that anyone still has the guts to make a stand for legitimizing Sexwork in this day of and age of Nazi like lock-downs, blue flashing camera's & unrelenting stings is actually pretty fucking noble if you ask me, and they deserve all the support they can get.

OK, I did a little research and the location is a bar called Spot 6. A little north of Boystown, a little south or Wrigleyville. It's probably right by the Twisted Spoke. It might be interesting to walk by the place if you are in the area. However, it is just the age of Nazi like lock-downs and blue flashing cameras that has me worried. I wonder what LE presence will be like. Now, I am not certain they are all for legalizing prostitution as much as they are for protecting their kind, providing safety, health care resources, etc. You have to admit, they do have an uphill battle in the public relation department.

Sex Workers Outreach Project Chicago [SWOP-Chicago] is an organization dedicated to improving the lives of current and former sex workers in the Chicago area, on and off of the job. When the work we perform is criminalized and stigmatized, we are denied the dignity and safety that are the inherent rights of every human. We stand with our allies in the labor, feminist, queer, and civil rights movements in demanding an equal society, in which no person or group of people is demeaned, demoralized, victimized, or otherwise harmed by other individuals or the state. Physical and psychological violence against sex workers is tolerated, and often encouraged, in a society which considers their lives criminal and immoral. Workers have no legal recourse when they are raped, abused, or placed in unhealthy working conditions by clients or employers. When arrested, many have little access to legal counsel, and an arrest can harm an individual’s opportunity for future employment as well as their emotional, financial, and family life. Until sex work is decriminalized, and deeply rooted cultural stigma against sex workers is removed, we will continue to be targeted for violence of all kinds.

SWOP-Chicago is composed of current and former sex workers – including prostitutes, professional dominants, porn actors, strippers, and sex educators – and our academic and activist allies, working together to ensure that sex workers are allowed healthy and fulfilling labor and lives. We represent a diverse range of experience and background, and have no tolerance for discrimination based on race, gender, or class within our ranks. As we consider every human life of equal worth, we work to eliminate discriminatory hierarchies evident among sex workers as well as within society at large. We support the right of all individuals to freely choose their work: We oppose trafficking and coercive labor of all kinds, from forced prostitution to unpaid migrant agricultural work. Coercive and forced labor are correlated with discriminatory immigration policy, the international dearth of living-wage jobs, the subjugation of women, and the criminalization which forces the sex industry underground. While these issues are important to every member of SWOP-Chicago, we are most capable of addressing the needs of consensual, adult sex workers, and can refer coerced workers and their advocates to organizations that can better meet their needs.

We address the issues that profoundly affect our work: access to supportive community and health care, violence at the hands of police, clients, and employers, the criminalization of our families and loved ones, and cultural stigma and mythology surrounding the sex industry. We employ a broad range of tactics and strategies, and work closely with other national and international sex workers’ rights organizations. SWOP-Chicago’s work is divided between outreach (providing access to a supportive network of resources and workers), education (bringing the voices of sex workers to academics, activists, and the general public), and decriminalization (changing the legal system that puts us at risk for violence and coercion).While none of our goals is easily achieved, we intend to struggle until every sex worker can live and work in safety and freedom.

So I was watching the first 48 tonight and it was kind of a boring episode, but still very reminding. For those of you who are not aware, or have been living in a fucking hole for the past year (just kidding to those members who are sensitive), the first 48 is the coolest fucking show on the universe. Its about the how homicide detectives essentially must find a lead within the first 48 hours of a case or else they are statistically destined for failure. Basically, its reality tv murder. I don't watch this show because I like to see people get killed, rather because I like to see the asshole killers get caught and put in jail for life.

This particular show was about a man who got stabbed to death in his car by some crackhead SW and her pimp. Everytime I watch this show I remember why I like it, and its because it reminds one to always be careful, never trust anyone, and be maticulous in the selction of people you associate with.

Now granted, with our hobby, I know many of us have put put ourselves in potentially dangerous situations before in the past. It may have been a situation similar to the poor guy that was killed on the first 48 (and it was a repeat visit). My point is be careful. Don't just follow the simples rules I. E. Screening, checking for reviews, not bringing extra money, jewels, valuables etc. The Most Important thing to do is Use Your Judgement. You really have to keep in mind that there are some weirdos, psychos, and drug addicts out there that will do anything for the almighty dollar.

I was thinking of how it would be an advantage to have a fellow monger-friend, someone to tell who you are seeing so in case something does go down somone knew where you were. God forbid.

Yeah we could start the monger outreach or info program, we could call it M2M. The only problem is,is that when the the little head starts taking control it often over powers the big head(as we all know) and if you out and run up on some ass, many are not gonna think to call their monger buddy.

A guy was with his family when he stopped to help a woman waving her arms. She turns out to be a undercover cop and he ends up getting charged with solicitation. Eventually the charges were dropped but now they want him to pay $4,700 to get his car back from the pound. Now he's suing.

I found this news story on officer.com. If they can read our web sites, why can't we read theirs, right? :) I know it's a little different because some cops partake in this hobby too.

The only thing I found out on the streets was what I think was a sting operation. At about 11:20pm tonight, (Thursday), three squad cars and an early 1990's Chevy Blazer S-10 with a snow plow and flashing cop lights had pulled over a car at Grand & Cicero.
