I suggest getting a carry permit before purchasing one bc when you go buy the gun you can just walk out with it as oppose to not having one, you might end up having to go back to the store a day or two later after your background check completes.

The information you fill out at an FFL (an ATF 4473) to purchase a firearm is never visible to the state, the ATF gets a copy. The state of Georgia can't even determine if you have a GWL much less a firearm, there is no central database by design. The only state notification for firearms is for NFA items, and even that isn't maintained it's a form letter that goes into a shredder.

There are also multiple ways to acquire firearms that do not generate a 4473 that are perfectly legal. It is also perfectly legal to own a firearm with no serial number in GA. The shit you see on TV about tracing firearms and the like is bullshit and does not exist. The most that can happen is the GBI requests the ATF trace a serial number and the ATF tries to find a 4473 paper form (it's all paper, no electronic copies) with that serial and contact the owner. As there is 0 requirement to document things like personal sales, lost guns, or destruction the paper trail only works to catch people that are very stupid or those breaking other laws like straw purchasing. The state has 0 method of realistically tracking firearms, although Biden is making a good play at it right now.

Nobody on the board going there but plenty of complaints about $60 to park and $40 to get in to then have some type of scam or game run on you. That's a big assumption.

I don't think it will have much impact on BBFS availabilityear old.
