You are both right and wrong – at the same time.
First; please get one thing straight if you don’t agree with anything else I have to say. Sexually Transmitted Diseases can be passed on by any girl. Less knowledgeable readers might read you post and think that they will be safe because they’ve gone to what has been alluded to as a Safe Place to pick up girls. You are not safe from STDs because you travel away from Kensington Avenue. Some might even argue that because of the proximity to gay providers, the 13th and Locust area may have a higher case level. At any rate, at either location the only sure protection from STDs is to wear a condom.
As to the picture(s) in question. Her nails were horrible, filthy and grimly; that’s a fact. Otherwise, for a streetwalker, she was reasonably clean. That is to say, at the least, she probably wiped herself off with a face cloth and bit of water, at sometime, on that particular day. I cannot be certain of even that. However, I have noticed that when the opportunity arises and given the chance most of the girls on the avenue will clean themselves up. Some of these girls live in abandon houses or houses without utilities; like running water. Most of the girls who live under these horrible conditions have learned to find ways to practice the bare minimum of hygienic practices. They’ll shower at motels when taken by a date, visit the local churches, wash in a McDonalds or occasionally they’ll have a home to go to and bath. These girls know that bad hygiene will chase away potential dates. My point is that; just because a person is on drugs doesn’t mean they are stupid or by nature physically dirty.
As for Marie’s hands, I cannot be sure, but I’d say she is a nail bitter. I believe her to be one of those girls who never learned to take proper care of their hands. Given the chance she’ll clean them, maybe. She’ll continue to chew them and they’ll never be manicured. Does that make her a bad person, a nasty person, someone to look down on with scorn and hate? I didn’t have to post the close-up picture showing her hands. The truth is that even though we were in a lighted room, I didn’t notice the condition of her nails until I was at home editing the pictures.
