Non-pro encounter that fizzled out
Main lesson from this, be prepared to WALK AWAY.
I was leaving a local Kroger store on a super cold, windy and rainy night recently when I saw a SBF walking with a grocery bag in her hand. There were no other open stores nearby so she must have come from Kroger too. I pulled up to her and offered her a ride. She agreed and told me she lived in some nearby apartments. She was about 5'6", 140 pounds, nice hairdo and pleasant demeanor. I guessed her age as 31.
While I drove she asked me what my wife would think of me giving another woman a ride. I said I was single and the flirty small talk ensued. She had 2 kids, I did not ask about a boyfriend / husband. When we got to her apartment block I told her I wanted to get in touch again. She happily gave me her number.
I was free several night later, and gave her a call at around 7 pm on a Friday night and asked if she wanted to get together later. She said she would let me know after getting her kids to bed. I asked her of she wanted me to bring anything and she said .60. She got back to me later and I took off close to 10 pm, not really sure whether she would host or if we would return to my place.
I pull up to her building and here is where things went south. She lived on the first floor, so she walks out to me as I am stepping out of the car and asks if I could pay her in advance. Not the whole amount, but just 20 bucks as she needed to run to her dealer nearby before he went to bed and we can do our thing after that. I am like WTF! Just then, a kid comes peeking out of the door and she yells at him to go back to bed. That was it for me.
I decided to do the one thing many talk about, I walked away. I turned around, got in my car and left her standing there. She is a definitely non-pro, but the "I need to run to my dealer" and the kid at the door told me things were probably not going to go well. An approach we need to use with pros too. Overall, no big loss for me, other than a little time.
