Newbie here flying in to Roanoke next weekend (Sunday). Any recommendations? I have scrolled the forum and have an idea of where to drive around. But wa slooking for a hotel meeting.

Check the yellow pages. I've almost always scored but the fare has ranged from an ATF (years ago) to perfunctory service. Unfortunately, the latter was far more common experience.

Although new to this board not new to Roanoke scene. I have had mixed success on some of the streets mentioned in the forums (yup I do my homework). Most of the ladies are very paranoid about LE (DUH) and naturally I am concerned as well. But I am more afraid of getting jacked or worse. I saw on a post awhile back about a fellow cruiser who went into a house after picking the gal up. This I have not done as I figure if they take you somewhere then most likely its a set up for a bust or maybe to get my brains knocked in with a pipe or bat. Any opinions on this?
Robb, I can only speak from my own experience (which comes from nearly 30 years of traveling and mongering). I look at the place issue this way: mongering is a dangerous hobby and there are definite security risks no matter what you do, if you ever feel uneasy....bail, ALWAYS. Its not worth ruining your life over trying to get-off one time.
I am one who will go to the gal's place (prefer it providing it's secure). My advice: her hotel room is usually OK since you can look around to be sure the place is clear, her apartment/house is OK if you have to talk her into it (her main worry is that you will come around and become a nuisance or worse). Her place is NOT OK if she pressures you to go to her place ONLY and right off the bat, if she says she has a place but its her "uncle's" and you have to pony up some extra jack (that means its a crack house and those folks will bust a cap in you over a pic of Abe) I won't go there. I don't go in a place where others males are (ask who else is there before you go in). I won't go into a hotel where you have to go in a lobby (people could ID you and there are security cameras so if your deal with her goes south then she can claim rape/assault and there are witnesses and tape to support that you were there).
Main advantage of her place: You are totally anonymous, she can't track you or claim rape, or show up at your home or get your home address, or show up at your office during business hours. You can check out how she lives, if she's totally strung out and lives like a junkie then you might want to think twice.
Personally I've been at this long enough that I only go for a certain type (the housewife/mom/student/amateur needing some jack to get by) because I've found that the cleanliness, safety, and attitude is generally better; they're just trying to get by and you're just wanting some help.
Anyway, one thing I personally never do is park (I know, I know, that's the mongers #1 way of doing things). However, if you get busted with a known SW with a record in your vehicle with your pants down and condoms laying around how the heck are you going to explain it?! Vehicle impounded, have to call the ole lady to post your bail...doesn't sound like a plan to me.
Looks to me like the biggest mistake rookies make is thinking with the little head rather than the big one.
ALWAYS remember its better to bail, even if it costs you something, than to catch an illness or be unsafe.
Now a question for the senior members: anyone know of any possibilities in the Galax/Hillsville area? I have elderly family that I go take care of and it would make the job easier if there were a local 'diversion'. I know it's a small area but its also economically depressed. Where there are women needing help there is always action.

Most of the gals I have made contact with are very suspicious of wanting to go to a motel...they prefer the vehicle and do not want to stray too far from where you picked them up. A couple have suggested their place (apartment or house) but I have been too paranoid for that. As far as the Hillsville/Galax area I dont know that area so really cant help you on that except there is a service near Whythville that may travel that way called Private Pleasures. They travel to the Roanoke area and sometimes to Boone NC and vicinity. Not too bad for the price which is a lot higher than SW rates.

That was an excellent summary of location precautions. And largely I tend to agree. Since I am the one who wrote the report Robb brought up, your summary saved me some typing.
Hillsville is near a possibly fabled bar that has friendly patrons hanging around. My reading of the board (VA Other areas) indicates there is something near the NC border along I-77. I have trolled the highways and byways in about a 10 mile radius with no positive ID of this wonderful little truckers bar. But alas, it was always when I was passing thru, so I could not be thorough. Intel also suggests that you will need a CDL to get in if you do find it. It occurs to me, locals from that area may provide the intel to another local and possibly even get past the CDL thing. Would love to know if you learn anything during your stay.

This is probably a bit out of the way for Hillsville but when lovelos posted about I-77 it triggered my memory. There is a place in Salisbury NC called second breath (do a google search and you can find the website or back chanel and I will give you a link). I have only been there once and it was decent. Converted house which is now a go-go type lounge. There is no cover charge, no booze served, and the gals dance in bikinis. You pick the one you want and go for a private show (cost for private show is around 50). Your mileage may vary on what you get but it seems that a lot of it is just show and tell. When I went I got lucky and got a nice rub and tug. Be forewarned tho, the rooms all have security cameras to protect the gals from aggressive customers and so you dont go too far (my gal was cool tho, she kept her back to the camera and it was a very nice release). Again, its a YMMV situation so dont shoot the messenger if the girl dances and you have to provide your own release which they encourage. Food for thought anyway.
