Why not just go to a real doctor? If I got HIV I can wait a couple of extra days to know for sure and the last thing I'm worried about is confidentiality. I don't think it would get out if the test was negative and I'm going to tell people if it's positive. The real doctor has a test that can tell within a couple of days of infection so it's quicker than waiting three months for antibodies to form anyway.

If so and I were you I would consider changing my approach to the hobby. Medical records are discoverable as HIPAA does provide exceptions for medical records disclosures in response to a subpoena, discovery request, or other lawful process.

Namely, doctors are *required* to report them, including your name if they have it. The "anonymous" test the clinic gives you has these same requirements, but since they're a publicly funded facility, the purpose of which is to get people tested and treated who couldn't otherwise afford it, they get a bye on the name requirement. They'll still report it if you give it to them, though.

Now, I got this information several years ago, so things might have changed.

Furthermore even in the event those tests are used the HIV-specialists still advise that the person be RE-tested every six-weeks for six-months using the antibody-detection tests to make sure that the virus is really not there! However, its regulations have been important in protecting HIV / AIDS patients from discrimination related to their condition as any inappropriate disclosures could have serious consequences.

But I do think its an important subject and at the risk of sounding arrogant (because who would brag about such a thing) I probably know more about the practical applications of HIPAA than most. So the bottom line choice is you can go to a real M. The. , have the antibodies form in 48 hours, wait a couple of days to get the appointment, and a couple of days for the results and have a 99.9% accurate result within a week or so and have about a 95% chance of privacy EVEN IF somebody comes looking, including lawyers, LEO or wives or, option 2, you can wait 90 days for antibodies to form and 2+ days for the result (I. E. Wait 92+ days of worry and no fun) for a test with 97% accuracy and complete privacy. You can't assume privacy, true, but with HIPAA and its practical application (all doctors associated with all major networks have lawyers to reject and parse medical records requests) you do have well over a 90% degree of privacy even if someone is looking. You can't assume you won't be robbed. You can't assume the pics aren't fake. You can't assume some thief isn't waiting in the parking garage on your way home from work. I'm not trying to be argumentative, just trying to frame the choice. Oh, and I am married and have a highly sensitive job I would lose in a heartbeat if I got "caught. ".

I know the hobby is a numbers thing to a lot of mongers and I'm cool with that. In my case I lost count 30 years ago so that's no longer important to me. My solution to lowering my level of risk taking to a minimum is to find a girl that I like, can have some trust in and is fun in bed and then concentrate most or all of my hobby resources on her. I get great service and privacy is of very little concern because I am a reliable source of income to her she doesn't want to risk losing that. If std's is a concern as it should be you both can go get tested together. Another benefit to me is the stress of seeing different girls and the associated drama is not a factor in my day to day life.
