SJO (Costa Rica) is about 3 hours away from MCO, FLL, or MIA. Multiple airlines (JetBlue, Spirit, Delta, etc). No COVID vaccination or testing requirement. Well defined and easily accessible hobby locations in San Jose and Jaco. If you take the Friday morning JetBlue flight out of MCO, you can leave at mid day, be on the ground by early afternoon. Your return flight could be Monday afternoon, be home by 7 pm and back to work the next day. It is a good introductory destination to international hobby travel. No visa required, just a valid passport for visits under 90 days.

More important than your skin color is the color of your money. I have lived in outside the US for 6 years now. One of the difficulties new travels have is leaving the cultural BS in the US.
