Zoning is not as easy as I thought
I have been trying to help friends open spas in the past. (My Mother / Daughter friends) Tried several cities and real estate brokers. Despite the vacancies MPs are classified as exception establishments that go through quite a bit of extra scrutiny, background checks, etc. I know several owners that have described the process. Even legit spas have trouble getting zoning approval etc. Sending letters to all nearby the homes and businesses. This is one reason owners of existing places can sell their places for a pretty penny. Also the owner needs a massage license from the state and the workers need licenses. Bob.
Since the downturn of the economy from 2007, she should have no trouble at all finding vacant space in the NW burbs. Waukegan is close to 94, and dad can drop the kids off at Great America before having some relaxation of his own. Waukegan only has 2 AMPs at the moment. I don't believe they've been targeted by LEO as of yet. Grayslake? It had a nice AMP up till about 3 years ago before they got shut down hard. Mundelein just got it's first (so far as I remember) AMP just a couple months ago, and it's losing businesses left are right. Lots of open storefronts for her to choose from. Libertyville has 3, down from 4 with the closing (but not shut down) of Mich's. 2 are out in the open, 1 is pretty much UTR. She really just needs to spend a couple days driving around the area and see what she can see.
