If you feel it is really that important, encourage that person to post their experiences. Only accurate information will help alleviate frauds such as bait-and-switch, which you say you are trying to prevent. What you have to realize is that by passing along gossip—which is what you did—you are just as guilty as a bait-and-switcher, because you are doing the same thing. You are passing along inaccurate information. Your motivations are not the same, and I don't believe you did anything out of malice, but the outcome is still identical.

I noticed in your response, you indicated that your "information" came from "another hobbyist or respected provider." What strikes me about the statement is that unless they have worked together, providers are normally not going to have any first-hand knowledge of each other's sessions. If Provider A gives you information about Provider B, it therefore has to be something a client (or someone else) has told her about Provider B. In this case, the information you get about Provider B is now 3RD HAND!! I don’t think this type of information is going to help anyone make a better decision as to whether or not this provider is worth seeing.

As I said in my last post, I normally do not involve myself in these kinds of spats. However, it just grates on my nerves when someone wraps himself in the virtues of the free flow of information, yet does not abide by the principles on which those virtues stand.

In the past when bad info has been posted on a provider, hobbiest have been able to come on here and post correct info. I have tried to post information on great providers and share on others.
