I just got home from an early look of the Wabansia/North area. I dont know what's going on, but there were two camera news crews by Wabansia/Paulina. One was from the Channel 2 news group in a couple SUVs and the other news crew was from Univision(Channel 44) in a news van. This was around 9:15pm.
10:10pm update: Yup, it's a prostitution report. Just saw the news report on Channel 2. Be careful out there. The residents are complaining to the police again.

To add to what Chester said, I called a friend who's a SGT. in the CPD. He was at work so no big details but appearantly they cops are on orders to "identify" cruisers.
Now this means if you drive around the area more than twice they will run your plates, pull you over on some bullshit and basically hassle you.
And they're going to be running in girls from the first time they spot them, no real warnings.
Now, these are the "orders". Will all the cops follow them to the letter? No. They have better things to do. Catching real criminals for instance.
I know there's no love for the LE on here, but most of these guys are just as bored of this bullshit situation as we are. With the exception of rookies and guys with real hard-ons for hassling girls most cops could give a flying fuck who cops your joint and for how much.

I just noticed I repeated your argument. Sorry. I did read it and probably did pick up on it for my post. Just had to vent. It just gets to me when cops give us verbal thrashings like the ones Chester has described and yet they themselves are raping women on the street (much worse, a million times, than consensual sex between a john and hooker, no?) or know cop partners and peers who rape them, yet keep silent. I wonder if the heroic women officers of the CPD Vice Squad react with the same "virtue" to the acts of rape committed by their male colleagues as they display in their merciless sting operations. Think so? How much do you value the female officer's integrity now, knowing that they probably aid and abet this criminal behavior, accomplices to rape, planning the stings of honest men and women who have sex consensually?

There was a crack ho using the pay phone there and she needed exttra change. One thing led to another and soon we were headed down Belmont together. When all was said and done and she left, I noticed her keys on the seat. she had told me where she lived, so i swung by there, but of course no last name. A New Approach to an Old Problem on North Avenue

Prostitutes and their customers on North Avenue are getting something they didn't bargain for: a trip to jail. Police in the 14th and 18th Districts, as well as Vice Control, are cooperating in an aggressive crackdown on North Avenue prostitution. In one recent night, more than 30 people were arrested for soliciting undercover officers. The effort is focused on the area around the North Avenue Bridge, which connects the 14th and 18th Districts. Commander Maria Maher of the 14th District explains: "When we do it on our own in the 14th District, the girls run into 18. When the 18th District does it, all the girls come into 14. And when Vice does it, the same thing. When we combine to do it, we're attacking the problem from all sides. They have nowhere to go." A key component of the initiative is seeking felony charges against prostitutes with prior convictions. Commander Joseph Griffin of the 18th District said: "The 14th District and the 18th District both keep records of everyone who is upgradable, so as we arrested these young ladies we were able to run their sheets right away and find out whether they had prior convictions." In Illinois, a prior prostitution conviction qualifies the repeat offender for a felony, which could bring between one and three years in jail. The community has played a crucial role in assisting police in the anti-prostitution effort. The community has organized marches and filed frequent complaints. To make it convenient for court advocates to attend judicial proceedings, all of the prostitutes and customers picked up in a recent sting have simultaneous court appearances. Griffin said: "Hopefully, this will alleviate the problem of the prostitutes along North Avenue."
Last night I ventured over to 5th Ave. and found a very nice dirty blonde sw near Cicero. Thin, bad acne and scars on her face but very friendly. Said she had her name run 5 times that night by LE! Not to pile on, but I agree with Happy that if she really wants out, the single greatest thing you can do for her is get her to professional help. Donate the money you'd give her to one of these organizations. They can stretch the money further and can help her better than you can.
Also, I would not have her in a hotel room if my name was in any way associated with it. That is all about opening yourself up to possible problems. Scenarios: a) she decides to turn a few tricks in the room and the hotel clues in; b) she gets high and trashed it; c) she peacefully stays there until it is time to go then leaves without problems. I think, from what you described, that any are possible. Only one is good.

Dealing with the psychology of these girls is definitely the purview of professionals. I can fully understand your fully idealistic motives, especially when you can see a sliver of goodness or a touch of innocence deep down in a really otherwise streetwise girl.
You are to be commended for that.
Unfortunately, without the help that persons trained in this area can provide, these girls seem to slide right back into the same depths they so desparately say they wish to escape from.
Their self-esteem has been beaten (literally) so low, that it is impossible for them to recognize that they do have the ability to survive on their own.
If only we had the talent, in a reverse way, that the rotten pimps seems to possess to be able to manipulate these girls' psyche, maybe we could turn a few of these wayward souls around. For now though, I guess we need to leave that to those best trained to deal with them.

Think about homeless people. Most people walk right by them, never even shifting their eyes to acknowledge that PERSON exists. Yes they are a smelly, dirty and often times crazy person, but still a human being. I've given them money knowing full well it goes to a bottle or a needle, sometimes I've helped them get social service help only to see them back on the street, victims of their own habits.
With these girls it is no different.
Imagine what it takes to become a prostitute Just for a second. You have to be so desperate for money, so jonesing for a fix that you will risk

The mental hard-wiring that creates someone who will do that took YEARS to get laid in. Think about it, Chester was offering to help her find a better job, a better place to live and a better way of life. All he wanted was to make sure she wasn't dead and this so offended her she went back to her piece of slime pimp who appearantly gives her enough to buy a burrito.
Pimps to me are the absolute bottom of the shit barrel. I get enraged when I see them glorified in music and television. They systematically rape and beat women. Wow, that's so fucking cool ain't it?
Chester, you did a noble thing. It's not your fault it failed. You were fighting the kind of psychological programming it took a lifetime to create. You still did a good thing by that lady and that in and of itself is not a bad thing. You should sleep better, if a little wiser.

Been there and done that. And never has helping these girls ever done any long term good. They begin to look at you as another kind of trick just exploiting you for money. But I know I will do it again. I dont think I have ever gone to the extreme that you have. But a word to the wise is remember these girls will almost always end up right back where they started no matter how hard you try. I will no longer give them money to help them out. They will get my sympathy, my time, and other help, but no more money.
