Google Voice accounts are free, and give you free calling throughout the US. If my memory serves me correctly, it's quite easy to put in BS information to eschew any relationship between yourself and the account. Plus, you could get any area code that you want, I believe. You could take the Google Voice number, terminate it at an Asterisk server (that you own. Preferably in a foreign country) with the Jabber (xmpp) plug-in, and use a plain old ATA device to log into the server. You could even toss a SIP client onto a cell phone (like Sipdroid) , and you're mobile on a 4G network, or the free Wifi at Dunkin Donuts. For extra security, you could grab a prepaid phone that allows data (I think there are some out there. Or not?) , and use the SIP client over that. No call records on the prepaid phone, no traceability to said phone, your PBX is in a foreign country, and you can configure the Asterisk server to not log *anything. No CDRs = no phone records. I think the only way they'd be able to trace you is to get information from Google what IP connected to that specific GV account. But, would they really go through all of that to bust one monger?

No public IPs are dynamic. The only "dynamic" IPs are those inside of LAN boundaries and usually served by a DHCP server. These addresses usually fall within the ranges defined in RFC1812, specifically 10. 0.0. 0/8 172. 16. 0.0/12 and 192. 168. 0.0/16.

The address exhaustion concern has far more to do with transitioning from IPv4 to IPv6. It has no bearing on this particular topic.

If you have a VOIP account, which you have to have some form of account to connect to the phone system, then you are completely traceable. Even if you use a VPN to connect to the internet your call will be logged in your account. In this case, the public IP you are using is immaterial if you can be traced through your account. I don't know of any personal VOIP you can buy without using a credit card or providing other I'd. VOIP is nearly as bad as your personal cell for privacy concerns. If you know of a completely anonymous VOIP system please let me know. But even using that you have far more privacy concerns than a pre-paid mobile.

It's actually a very simple and fast process for Uncle Leo to get a warrant to obtain IP records. The threshold for the cause needed to justify a warrant in this case is relatively small and all VOIP systems keep a log of calls and IPs and other information for far longer than you think they do.[/QUOTE]

Considering that Aliza is actually Liza I hope she remembers the time that I called for a appt at 5 pm for a 7 pm meeting I made a prep phone call at 6:30 to say I was in route got there at exactly 7 called 5 times from 7-7:15 no answer got one text at 7:20 saying she was getting ready 7:30 I called again no answer 2 times just leaving the lot got a phone call she aaid come to my room and hung up I called back immediately no answer on two attempts I needed the frigging room number she called and asked where I was I said I'm on the road now I said give me the room number and stay on the phone till I get there she she dis but it was the biggest hassle ever almost took all of the fun Out of the event I was so flustered my take on her is that she s a flake but if one is in business be punctional and truthful

But I was coming from the viewpoint of the common joe who has no clue what you're talking about. .

Google has tightened up things recently, and I believe it's harder to get a truly anonymous account but I'm not a GV user so that's just hearsay.

I'll repost my Liza story since it was a while back and buried deep in the forum.

Set up an appointment with Liza for noon today. Around 11:45 I realized I was running late. Called her and told her I'd be there no later than 12:15. Showed up at her house at 12:15. There's a car in the driveway. I knocked and knocked. No answer. Called and she told me it was the "pool guy" and she needed another 15 minutes. Never seen a pool guy in a 2 door BMW, but whatever.

Drove around for 15 minutes, the pool guy was still there. I called again at 12:40 and she said come on by. I told her I was only a minute away and I'd be right there. Knocked on the door. Again, no answer. Knocked for a good 5 minutes. Tried to call and the phone went right to voice mail box is full message.

By now it's 12:45, so I left. Three minutes later she's calling asking where I am. Tried to explain I'd been knocking for five minutes, but this seemed impossible for her to comprehend. Told her I'm still right down the street and I can be back in 5 minutes. She told me she had a 1 o'clock appointment. I'm trying to ask her if she had another time I could come back, but at this point she's babbling pretty incoherently about how I was wasting her time by talking on the phone. I tried to explain that I was only on the phone because she didn't answer the door, but again, this was way beyond her ability to comprehend. This is just conjecture of course, but she was sounding pretty stoned. I could only understand half what she said and not much of that made sense.

I don't know what she was thinking double booking 12:00 or how she was thinking she'd fit me in in only 15 minutes, but I do know she wasted my time, then she got an attitude with me.

I haven't seen her yet but have talked to several that have and it sure sounds like overbooking also called greed. If I drive a long way for an appointment and get stood up, I will spread the word. A good provider will space 20 to 30 min between appointments so not overlap. A greedy provider will have someone waiting for them to get done. That's the biggest reason a provider will RUSH you.
