A sting operation Tuesday by Brimfield police resulted in the arrest of a Ravenna woman, who allegedly was using a township hotel to meet men for sex.
Samxxxxxxxx X. XXXXXXXXX. 18, with a last known address of 529 Day St, Ravenna, was arrested Tuesday and charged with one count each of prostitution and solicitation, both third-degree misdemeanors, and three counts of possessing criminal tools, all first-degree misdemeanors.
Brimfield Police Chief David Blough said officers received two anonymous tips regarding suspicious activity at the hotel, one of several at the intersection of Interstate 76 and S. R. 43, including where on the Internet they could find Edwards' escort service advertisement.
After a follow-up investigation, 'we called and made an appointment with her, ' Blough said.
He said after some 'pretty explicit conversation on the phone, ' an undercover officer was sent to her hotel room just before 1 pm Tuesday. An offer for sexual activity was made, money changed hands and officers moved in and made the arrest, Blough said.
But what came next was a surprise: As the officers prepared to take the woman away for booking, there was a knock at the door.
'There was a guy there. Another customer, ' Blough said.
In all, Brimfield officers turned away five men who had been loitering around the hotel preparing to meet the woman. Three of the men had appointments scheduled for 1 p. M, independent of each other, Blough said.
'They were told they weren't welcome here for those purposes and we sent them away, ' he said.
Blough said "SAM" told officers she overbooked because 'sometimes customers didn't show up' for their scheduled appointments.
Officers seized a cell phone, computer, digital camera and '50 to 60 unopened condoms, ' Blough said.
Blough said Sam had been operating her business for about a month. She also allegedly told police she is pregnant, a claim she also posted on her Facebook page Tuesday night following her arrest.
SAM touts herself at AkronCanton. Backpage. Com under the 'Female Escorts' heading as a 20-year-old 'Perfect & Curvy {{Blonde}} Hottie, ' offering '$100 specials' for a half-hour or $200 for a full hour.
According to Brimfield police, SAM was freed on a personal recognizance bond pending an initial court date. Her mother picked her up from police custody.

I had a friend that was a cop and he used to run the plates in retail parking lots routinely. It was in a Cleveland area suburb and if they found an expired plate or car registered to someone with a suspended license or warrent for a lot of parking tickets etc they could sit acrossed the street and wait for the person to leave and pull them over. Out of towners from Cleveland (read black) would make most of the targets.
If the Kent or Brimfield cops had time on their hands I could believe that they might look to harass some out of towner coming in to get his dick wet.
Cops in Independence drive through the motel parking lots all the time. One provider told me they where driving through every 20. 25 minutes. She said they would stop behind cars like they are running plates. I know I have seen them there doing it a number of times. She was a traveling girl and said she never seen cops going through the parking lots that often, it was freaking her out.

(thinking of the old TV show, Rescue 911 hosted by William Shatner) I got in, and it was hectic. I had a hard time keeping up, so I quit after 6 months, but when I was on the midnight shift, the cops would go thru motel and truck stop parking lots a lot, and run plates on the laptop computers in their cruisers. They would say having their presence in those areas would keep crime and thefts down, and when they would find an expired plate, or a suspened driver, or a warrant, they sit across the street and wait for them to leave, and bust them. If you're a single guy, no biggie, but if you had a G / F, or a wife, who would not"put out", or do those things you wanted, and you go see a girl, you don't want the risk of having your plate run and put into a data base and maybe they mail a letter to your house that your vehicle was seen in a high crime area, or a known drug / prostitution area. That wouldn't be good! LOL.

It almost sounds like a set up to me. But I could be wrong. Or she could just be that stupid to go back in the same location again.
