Korean Bar Reports

Just talked to a couple friends who work for HLSINS and over heard them say they just took in 3 KB girls with over extended stay VISAs One of them tried to do a paper marriage and now they are looking for that guy The other girl married 2 guys trying to get a green card then tried to get a divorce and then got picked up while working at one of the keaamoku bars dont know which one Does anybody know who and which bar

Heard them say they are mandated to crack down on these places know since Korea has a no VISA req for 30 days and a lot of people are coming in but not leaving.

I have tried the mongering thing here in Hawaii, doing the AMP thing and feeling that I've gone past that part in my life.

I used to go to some Kyabakuras (Hostess Bars) in Tokyo but those always costs about $$$$$ with no benefits at all, other than a quick feel here and there but definitely did not participate in any backroom services. I guess the Koreans just do it differently than the Japanese.

Anyways, as I'm a bit new to the scene, I don't really have any guy friends who would be interested in hitting up a KB with me so that would mean having to fly solo.

What are people's thoughts on walking into a KB alone? I was thinking of just going to the bar and sitting myself, chit chat with the bartender a bit and drink a beer, maybe wait till a girl sits down next to me? Then buy the poor girl a drink too? Obviously this is the fee to cure loneliness but I'm just wondering if I would look like a complete loser for walking in a crowded place where all the guys are chillin with their bois and then there I am, loser sitting at the bar stuck with the oldest and ugliest KBG in the joint.

Any advice on how to carry myself? And maybe which bar would be a good first time place?

I happened to walk into JJ's off Keamoku a few months ago, mistaking it for a normal Karaoke joint for my group of friends and just remember looking and feeling really awkward. I did notice that some of the girls looked pretty young and attractive but all the guys there came in groups. Wouldn't mind going there again if I knew I could feel comfortable.

Hoping to make the transition into KB with the support from senior mongers. Penny for your thoughts?

Speaking of cindys. Never got much from Cindy at splash. She's cool to rap with but don't see what the fuss is about. Not feeling her make up too. Kinda freaky sometimes.

Overall the scene sure seems to have fell off.

Went to cheers station in kalihi earlier this week. Nothing fun to report but I remembered that someone was looking for Cindy and was reported that she had moved to splash. I saw her at cheers that night. Idk if she's bouncing between bars or what but seems like the 2 bars are kinda far apart to do that. Anyways, that's all I got for now.

JJ's was definitely not the right place to start off. it's pretty much a private korean gangster bar, and so im not surprised you weren't welcomed in like norm from cheers.

For solo mongering, I think da time you go is important- go during pau hana time (5-8 pm) and sit at the bar in front of the TV so you have a game to watch and dont look so obvious that you are new and checking out the talent. Go places that have guy bartenders and they will point out the best looking girls as they come in for work. just be careful that a lot of the time, the 'best girls' are the house ROBs.

Also, a lot of the best girls don't come till later in the night, so you may not get the best talent so early in the evening.

As for best places to go, I think business on kapiolani is good cuz the bar is long and lots of TVs. But its so big that you might not see the girls as they come in. Camelot also has a long bar that gives u a nice look at all the girls as they come in da front door.

btw, you might wanna also check out 939's (strip club) cuz they have no cover and $2 beers for happy hour, and usually good early talent.

Just go for it! No need be scared just cause you by yourself.If you that self conscious just sit at the bar.I think the more you go,the less you goin care about being by yourself.Hope that helped a little,post your experience about your next outing.

I see guys go there by themselves and just hang out at the bar. This is normal as some just stop by a bar just to get a drink and check out the bar before heading home. But, of course if you walk in there alone at any hostess bar, a girl will eventually see you and approach you. A KB bar you won't feel that off walking in there alone as there is a mixture of different people young and old. If it' a local bar with all the local guys hanging out there talking with the girls at the bar, then it would feel a bit off. You would be there sitting at the counter and the local guys looking at you thinking: "Who is this guy?"

As far as carrying yourself in the bar, hehe don't be so shy if you are shy or be so concerned about people looking at you or what people may think of you. Heh, screw them man. Go in the bar, get a drink and start socializing and making friends with the bartender or even someone sitting next to you at the bar. I'm serious, you can't be to shy in a hostess bar. Bottom line, have fun there and enjoy yourself. Ask the guy for the karaoke book and sing some songs if you feel like.

If a BG approaches you and you don't mind buying her a drink then get her a drink. But, don't let her sucker you or sweet talk you into getting more and more drinks when you feel she is drinking too fast. Don't be afraid to put your foot down and say that's enough already. Don't let her pouting convince you to get another because you feel guilty to say no. Some guys get all wishy washy when it comes to turning down a BG or telling a BG it's her last drink. However, don't be mad or sound mad though. Just say it in a polite manner but, be firm about it. You don't want to come off as someone who is easy to get drinks from.

Making friends with the bartender is good. He or she can tell you info on some of the girls who is working at the bar. You can also get info from other guys at the bar who may be regulars at the bar. You might bump into me at the bar who knows hehe.

Hmmm... in fact I was just gonna mention Camelot bar on Sheridan Street. The bar is not that big, plus you get to see the bar right outside the doorway. Just find an open seat by the cigarette machine & ATM on the right as you walk in. You won't feel that awkward going to Camelot by yourself. I see guys young and old sit at the bar by themselves. Plus, you get to see the girls walking in and out. Normally, after 8:00pm on most nights, you'll see Brian, Chonga and Bobbi working at the bar. If you go there at an earlier time, you may see Jody bartending. On a few nights when it's slow, one of the BGs Ashley will be working at the bar.

If I was the korean girl in that predicament I would use the precedent that has been set in California and the rest of the U S. IMHO.

Got some good advice and definitely slowly feeling more comfortable heading to the bars. I've read through hundreds of posts in this thread so hopefully I can remember as much as I can to enjoy myself. But maybe I'm just overthinking things and it'll end up being a lot more chill than what I thought it would be. Will try to hit up Camelot, which BTW is just down the street from where I live. Literally a 3 minute walk. This could end up costing me tons if I enjoy myself.

I guess the consensus is to go to these more bigger, popular places but I would think it would be a little more personal to go to a small place to get more time with the girls. I like the feel of JJ's just not the scary looks. Anyone been to these smaller places and have better success?

I don't know if anyone cares if someone comes in alone; I don't. Just walk in and grab a seat, never mind what other people think. KBs are improper places to begin with; by right those girls aren't even supposed to be sitting with customers for pay, and they say the worst shit about customers in Korean anyway. According to Turbo Dick's post, they are getting cracked-down on for just being here.

Like Uki says, just have fun. With today's a-hole girls, that may be easier said than done but it's cool just to chill at the bar and check-out any eye candy that might be there.

The Makaloa strip is pretty low-impact IMHO, but if you walk in the door and don't feel comfy with a particular place, by all means feel free to leave even if they nag you to stay. You are under no social obligation whatsoever to stay, and checking out different places is what mongers do. Then, you will discover for yourself which bar(s) suit you.

Don't blow too much money on any one girl, IMHO better to sample different ones so you can see what attributes they have and what is important to you. Even though BGs are 'all the same', at the same time there are all sorts of differences.

I keep saying "you"; you worked all week, it is your free time to relax, your money, your inclinations, so it only matters what you think. Find the bar you like and report your adventures, even if you had a helluva time in a bar generally regarded on this forum as being shitty (or had a shitty experience in one of the mainstream bars like Camelot or Splash), as it is your adventure, your report.
