A few weeks ago I asked a provider to text me the next time she was in town. When the text came through, it was part of a mass text containing 11 numbers.

Now I have no problem with this as I use a drop phone. But of course curiosity got the best of me and after entering all of the numbers into google, I was able to identify 3 of the other numbers. 2 small businesses and 1 private number.

My only motive was curiosity and their identities are safe with me. But we all know that there are less than honorable Mongers and providers out there.

Protect yourself, coworkers and family. Use a drop phone. If you are going to use a business or personal phone don't be surprised when you have to answer difficult questions, or when the wrong people show up looking for handouts.

The biggest obstacle that I've noticed is that real info only gets passed between a select few "senior" members. I understand why things are this way, but it creates a sort of Catch-22 for us new folk. Its hard to find anything without taking huge risks, but without taking those risks you have no information to contribute, and therefore are not able to receive information from others in return. This is true of most boards, but this one is probably the worst offender of any that I have ever attempted to participate in.

Anyways, hopefully that wasn't too painful. Feel free to discuss why you agree / disagree, or ignore completely.

For example, new-ish girl is discussed (first review done as a TOFTT). If the discussant is a known monger, then likely this is not a LEO setup. OK, go see that one. Maybe you have a different opinion or likes. For example first review talks how she is not GFE; maybe she is for you. That way you add value to the board with less risk. You can also go see a well reviewed one and still give feedback. If you are not new to the hobby then you must be seeing someone!
