Is this something that you wished you had a lawyer for?
Sorry for posting these questions here but trust me when I say you will all want to know this stuff if it happens to you.
I know it is probably archived somewhere but can someone let me know what to expect in Detroit court after getting busted for the first time?
It happened to me about 10 years ago. They impounded my car and I had to go to court and attend a std class with other mongers. $400 for the lawyer $1000 in fines to the city and county to get the car back. No arrest record a ticket for public nuisance is how it was classified get caught again and the fines go up.
Is this something that you wished you had a lawyer for?
Always get a lawyer for something like this. You're going to have to pay at least $1400 anyway. Why not pay that money and have a clean record? They use to have a "John's TV" in Detroit. Don't know if it is still there or not. If it is, you don't want to be on it. Consult an attorney. Depending upon how things went down, they may not even have a case. Only a lawyer can tell you that. Also, try mongering across the bridge. Better pickings and less hassle. Good luck.
Thanks for your input guys. I did catch a lawyer, better safe than sorry.
I will let you know what happens.
P.S. Even if you have the slightest doubt when cruising, "even if it is with a chick you had dated before", KEEP ON CRUISING..... Go to your alternate site.
Had a lawyer he showed up late I got what everybody else got & got to pay a lawyer 350 too. The city see's to much money to make off us it's all about the money.
I saw a decoy on Oakwood by Sanders(between Schaeffer and Miller) at 1:30 am Friday morning. She was nice looking blonde and looked about 30 with a thin body. I turned down Sanders and was considering picking her up. As she was walking toward my car she was trying to start a conversation about the act rather than just getting in the car. She was also carrying a purse which is a dead give away. It didn't seem right so took off down Sanders toward Dix and low and behold there was LE parked way down on Sanders with his lights off. First time I have ever seen a decoy in the area.
Have long blonde hair down to about the middle of her back? Was she thin with about be size titties? I saw a girl who I know walking down oakwood that fit that description. She was wearing a white T-shirt and tight blue jeans. She is cute. She was carrying a purse and all. She was out in front of the motels. This chick lives in a house right off oakwood behind the restaurant. She doensn't work the streets all that much and when she does normally some of the guys she hangs around with linger within a quarter block or half block away watching her. She's a little nervous out there. She's not a total crackhead like most of the girls around there. She's just dabbles a bit and works only when she absolutely needs money. The guys hanging around are harmless and I know she would be cautious before she hops into a car with someone. I know she's not the type just to hop right in. I'm sure her prices are double the going rate. 20 regular girl = 40 for her. I'm sure she loses a lot of business but better to be cautious. That goes both ways.

1) She carried a purse. Have never seen an Oakwood working girl with purse in 10 years
2) She was working on Sanders towards Dix not Oakwood. No one works Sanders
3) The cop car was down farther on Sanders with it's lights off.
4) She kept on saying "are you looking for a date" every 5 seconds as she was walking towards my car, more than a block away. Probably at least 6 or 7 times, loud as she was walking towards me, this is not normal.
5) She did not just get in my car, she was trying to get me to engage in conversation about the act outside the car.
I still say watch out in this area.
I'm not sure that carrying a purse is a dead give-away for LE. Many carry their cigaretes, toiletries, etc in their purse. That goes for the lady-boys. Of course, if she is carrying the purse with one hand in it or looks like she's about to open the purse, something's going down... Either you're about to get rolled or busted. Regardless, when in any doubt what-so-ever, I hope we just say "Woops, I thought you were in distress..." or something to that effect and pull away.
When I roll up, I unlock the door. The very first thing she needs to do is open the door once she sees that lock go up or I say "sorry, I mistook you for a friend" and keep rolling. Anyone trying to talk business outside of the car is likely a cop, in my experience.
