Sorry, it's behind the paywall but decent story.
Continues to amaze me how the national media dodges the sex work angle, as if these intrepid reporters can't figure out what's going on at AMPs. Of course, if it's a rich guy like Robert Kraft involved, then the media is all in on possible trafficking, exploitation, and other politically agitating angles. But a sober look at sex work? Nah.
Most of the women who were killed apparently struggled to make ends meet. Yes, there are providers in the business who do well but it seems there are many who do not. The pandemic has been very tough on the parlor business.
I can't speak to either problems but there are issues
It's a fair point but look at it this way. It's the not issue on hand. We have a kid who's balls barley dropped killing people (and targeting specific establishments) so we need to discuss that as a nation. Your sperm being slapped out of you by a 50 yo grandma can be discussed later after the victims have been buried and the ***** face is investigated.
It's about the narrative. I'm sure they can figure it out. But right now they're trying to humanize these girls by talking about their families, etc. The topic of AMPs as sex trafficking centers doesn't fit when they also talk about how the girls went home to their family every night, had dreams of travel, etc.
It had to be one or the other. And racism gets way more attention than sex work right now. All about those clicks and views.
Not sure if hobby related, but a cautionary tale.
Garrett Rolfe back in, Keisha Lance-Bottoms out!
As predicted, Garrett Rolfe was reinstated and will get back pay for being fired for the Rayshard Brooks shooting. Meanwhile, Keisha Lance-Bottoms, who started the downward spiral in Atlanta crime with this firing, among other things, has conceded defeat in the battle and won't seek re-election. What a huge waste of taxpayer dollars that firing was, all for expedient political show, and has cost the city of Atlanta in more ways than one, not the least of which is now an uncontrollable crime problem, which was also predicted as a result of this firing. Any moron (except Mayor Bottoms apparently) could see that the police force was going to lie down after the Mayor cut their legs out from under them every chance she got, and went on national TV talking about how their actions they were trained to perform in the line of duty "made her sick".

Taser Deemed Lethal Weapon
By the same the, no less.

Monday Morning Quaterbacking??
That is like when one of my soldiers was bitten by a snake and went to the nearest emergency room and the Army did not want to pay saying the snake was not poisonous. My response was, he did not ask the snake! The cop had a split second decision where the violent perp fighting him pointed a firearm at the cop and fired. END OF DISCUSSION!
Interesting, but I saw a video where a former police chief viewed the video and said the cop's life wasn't considered to be in imminent danger, so I'm guessing that's the angle that the prosecutor will use. I'm curious to watch the trial to see how it pans out. Certainly not a fan of Brooks as he was a piece of shit, but I also don't believe in allowing cops to go overboard either.
As an aside, I'm glad that the Atlanta mayor is on her way out. She seemed way too pro Black (racially biased) and harbored a general hatred of white cops. I don't know the demographic makeup of APD officers, but guessing that the majority are white and they probably despised her. Anyone know?
