Remember, the ban was put in place for the workers of these establishments, not for patrons who don't smoke who have a choice where they go. It was so non-smokers wouldn't have to quit an existing job if they didn't smoke, or be limited in the places they could work (sort of like the equal opportunity act). Just wanted to remind everyone out there that was the reason. Right or wrong, that was why...

Apparently a lot of us missed the boat on this one because everybody has incredible (back-in-the-day) stories about this place, Magazine Girl and Bon Soir. Heard Vanessa was the bomb back then. I wonder if Secret or (what was formerly) Kools/LH compares to what those places were?
If I had a time machine, going back to these establishments in the early-'90s would be near the top of my list to do... beside buying stock in certain key companies and making huge sports bet in Vegas!

It still sucks getting rained on in the street. I'm somebody too. The workers also lost 34% (per health department) of their income. It is because people like me stay away. I once left $500 a month at Evergreen, this last year I left $0. Could they put in some good ventilation or something. Like we could have our own area or something. People that don't smoke ain't exactly going in debt to pay a hidden bar male parter they have never even met for the same "goods" and "services".

I was a regular at Magazine Girl and Bon Soir (used to be known as Club 501 and Honolulu Action when they first opened up); in fact I remember Vanessa when she was 19 years old and just starting to work in the bars. She used to do everything BB, including CIP. They used to have a couple of girls working there that were 17 years old (Shelly and later Natasha). Ah Good memories.

I think many of us kb/vb mongers like the thrill of the hunt. For me, I like fresh meat, it's kind of fun hooking up with new girls as many of them haven't been indoctrinated into the biz yet. One girl I sat with a few years ago we sat and chatted for 2 hours and I only bought her 1 drink. I took her home for some fun after that. It's also interesting, some bar girls that many say don't play or offer services actually will provide service if they like you enough and you both hit it off well. If you are looking for action or are touchy then they get turned off but if you seem interested in them and not as a bar girl then you might be surprised what you might be rewarded with. I still have one or two girls when I visit I can sit in the booth for an hour and get a HJ for $40, but only because I put in the time with them previously to establish a relationship with them.
I think you can have a better chance at the kb's than the vb's as the viet girls are a little more prone to be bloodsuckers.
Yes you have the ROB and hustlers (like yujin), and those girls are best left to the suckers who don't do their homework to see which girls are the rip off artists. I usually sit and watch first to see which girls are worth sitting with and which aren't. If the new girl if drinking like a fish then you know she has been taught the biz. Also, by visiting the kb's and vb's regularly you won't get caught by the "new" girls who give the story that they are new to the biz in order to sucker the customer into buying them drinks. Also being nice to some waiters helps. I had the waiter at sky lounge point out new girls that I can get some action with (I tip him a $20 sometimes if I do get lucky) as he knows what I want when I sit with a girl. He also tells me which girls I should stay away from.

Just FYI, many of the kb's will allow you to smoke in the rooms. I know that camelot and evergreen you can take the girl to the room and smoke in there. A few of the vb's will also allow you to smoke in the bar, I saw tracey smoking in the bar at secret. You just need to visit and find out which bar will allow you to smoke. Hint, if the mama is smoking in the bars then it's probably safe for you to light it up too.
Btw, a patron got a ticket for smoking in a bar. This was last year in town, I think it was more of a show to prove that you can get a ticket for smoking in the bar. Never heard of another that got ticketed after that. As for the bar owners not being fined, it is because the law isn't tied in with the liquor commission. If the laws were tied in to allow the liquor commission to fine for smoking then it might have more teeth but right now the bar won't get in trouble for having a smoker in there. If the police had a complaint it would be the smoker who could get ticketed, but then the patron who complained probably would never be served in that bar again.

I've been in rooms at Evergreen, Eclipse, CK, and Casablanca where the girl has smoked, since the ban went into effect. I don't smoke but I let them suck on nicotine as long as they suck on my stick too.

Most owner's don't play, because they will be taking money away from their girls. No money for the girls means that they will likely go to another bar to work.

There are 2 booths on the ewa side of the bar and 1 booth on the diamond head side of the bar. These are considered the "play" booths. The mama there will try to get the girls to push $40 drinks for you to sit there but on slow nights you can get away with paying $20 drinks.
Unless the bar is busy and full don't let these girls get you with $40 drinks. Also watch out for the scam. When you want to go to the "play" booths, tell the girl you want to buy her only $20 drinks. Sometimes the girl will say okay, but then when you are worked up and in the booth she will take your $20 and go back to the bar but come back and tell you that the mama said that she needs to collect another $20. Bad because she already took your $20. I usually tell her that I won't give her another dime and if she wants me to spend money on her in the future she should just come sit. If she continues to push for $20 more then maybe it's better to tell her to f off and cut your losses on this one.
I have sat with many girls in those booths for $20 with no problem, if they asked for $40 drinks I told them no but they would give in and sit with me. They knew that better to get me for $20 drinks then try to push the issue and lose me forever.
Strange thing happenned to me the other night. I saw a girl from sky lounge, think her name is sylvia working at nsn. Until now I never had a problem when I said I would only spend $20 on drinks even in those booths. Even hustlers like Tammy would reluctantly sit for $20 drinks (maybe drinks a little faster though). Guess it will be interesting when I go back there to sit with another girl, I usually sit with some other girls there, one Chinese girl too so should be interesting if it was the mama or the girl who was so adamant about the $40 drink.
