I stand corrected. Of course, cash is king in a business such as this. It just boggles the mind to think of that much green sitting around unsecured. I have been to AMPs all over the east coast. Everything is run from Queens. Ask any of these South Korean girls if they have been to Queens before, casually . You will see that 95% of them have been there. They are brought there first for their AMP training and breaking in period, although some girls have told me they learn the shiatzu techiniques at a young age back in Korea.

After Queens they are sent out in rotation to the network which is all over the country, Europe too. Philly and Atlanta are hubs of this business as well, but you can see that it is pervasive here in the Bay area too, look at how many AMP's there are within 30 miles of downtown tampa. Usually girls work 3 month rotations at these shops and then go a different shop. They have large debts to pay to their traffickers for fronting them the money to be in this country whether that be legal or not.
These ladies are taught to never speak of their predicament to anyone, or else their families will be killed in South Korea. In fact they are told to act as if they are here of their own free will and everything is fine.

Imagine if you had no money, no car, no friends, no contacts, your doing an illegal business for money, and no one lets you keep that money. Then you are threatened to have the very thing your working so hard for taken from you if you resist. It seems there is no sense working to send money home eventually, if there is no one left to send it too. Then your in a foreign country alone, what could you do?
I will also volunteer that 26k is next to nothing to be found by police. I have been to an AMP in Philly that had well over 50 "rooms", how much cash do you think they have on hand at any one time? I will say that almost no one uses plastic to get a massage at these places, and if they do they are foolish. Next time you drive from FL to GA on I-75 North, check out and count how many AMP billboards there are right on the highway. Another amazing thing for me is how these girls are coached to act like they speak broken English, when in fact they are actually taught English as part of school, and most speak it fluently. However, they are trained extensively to act as if they don't to prevent you from thinking you could actually communicate with one of these girls and possibly steal them. Some of these beautiful ladies are so good at what they do it has crossed my mind many times and I 'm sure it has crossed yours too. But, they are told to speak like that so they don't have to do different things and make you think its just a communication barrier. Always remember even if they sound like they don't know English, they always understand what you are saying, its just a questions of whether or not they will do it. This way they can just service you in the least amount of time necessary and move on to make more money. Like I said before they have huge debts to pay. I have more to tell but thats enough typing for now.

Methinks you have been reading too many boiler plate LE press releases. The reason everyone is from Queens, at least on the east coast, is because they have apartments in Flushing, a community in the borough of Queens. It's not called Korea-Town for nothing. There is also a Korea-Town in LA on the west coast, and a few other places, just like there is a China-Town in many of our large cities. I'm not sure where you get your information about trafficing but in my years of patronizing AMPs as well as intimate relationships with some of the workers, some of whom have lived and traveled with me, as well as owners whom have lived or traveled with me, your information is for the greatest part simply wrong. The K girls have far more freedom than LE wants to admit. LE uses that technique to just stir up the community to have the places closed.

One friend, who owned a Tampa AMP, who speaks excellent Englsh and owns her own home in the northern part of Florida, is retired from the business. We had the discussion about whether the women are "trafficed" and forced to work under duress. Her reply was, "Bullshit! We do it because of the money."

Those who do work under duress do so because of their own problems. Many are heavy drinkers and spend great sums of money drinking. I've spent many nights at my GF's spa and once the open light goes off they really pound them down. They need money to feed that habit and have a few extra dollars to spend on themselves.

Most of the rest who work under duress do so because they are extremely materialistic and cannot control spending on high end items as well as inexpensive faddish items.

But, the vast majority are AMPs I am speaking of. I got my info from 15 years of going to AMPs hanging out with mamisans and AMP lady workers, and now being married to a South Korean woman. I would never waste my time typing LE bullshit information in this forum. In Summer 2006, the Feds and local LE pounced on AMPs up and down the East Coast. It made a very big slash here in the DC area.

You're right. It is all about the money. I have an acquaintance who came here from Korea to earn a living. She had no other marketable skills here in the USA and took to spa work. Ironically she got out of the line of work and is having considerable difficulty finding legitimate work that pays as well.

As a novice, who rarely frequents AMPs, I wonder if their LE problem is two fold, one its Bushes " hot button, trafficking " and therefore there is Fed $$$ for LE to go after them. I don't think that the AMPs fit the publics perception of "trafficking ". Again I'm a novice vis-a-vis the AMPs.

For the most part, I think we agree on most of the posts we've made on this subject. We do have a slightly different opinion on some issues but we're not that far off.

As for the DC NBC link you provided I notice the following: "70 SUSPECTED sex slaves (this is not credible evidence, only an allegation); if convicted (IF being the operative word. The question remains - were they?); The couple and two New York police officers accused of accepting bribes were arrested and charged with public corruption offenses in March (Public corruption is a far cry from human trafficking and at this point they were only charges); she acknowledged that some of the 70 suspected victims might turn out to have known the risks of the brothel trade and chose to work in it anyway (This is the closest to telling the truth I've seen in a news report by someone in LE involved in this issue. The Baltimore link has almost the same story as the DC story and ironically has the same publishing date. Essentially, the media sources for these two cities took a boiler plate press release and went with it.

And then there is that FBI document which is really a boilerplate press release from the FBI with very much the same allegations in dozens of press releases from various LE agencies around the country. Doesn't it seem to to almost be just what the media sources published? Interesting too is that their date is also August 16, 2006. The release says, "The wiretap led to the discovery of an extensive network of Korean-owned brothels, stretching from Rhode Island to Washington, D.C." You know, if I hadn't seen AMPs in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland mostly near Baltimore, and Pennsylvania all owned and staffed by Koreans I would never have known there was such "an extensive network of Korean-owned brothels." Some are owned by partners, some are owned by individuals and yes in some cases a person or group owns a number of them. It still does not credibly establish that an organized group of Koreans are a) running all the Korean AMPs in the country, b)controlling where and when the girls go, and c) forcing/and or lying to these women to come here. Those I know and talk with have told me they knew what they were doing and they did it willingly. Now that may not be the right thing to do or the right way to live one's life but it is still a choice made by the individual. Still, other than allegations and suspects and suspected actions, there is no credible evidence. Credible evidence would consist of convictions and court transcripts demonstrating how the evidence was sufficient to prove that women are forced to come over here, kept as slaves, and held against their will. I hope if there is a trial in this "alleged" case that someone will post the outcome of it. That might give this debate a clearer vision of what is truth and what is PR for political purposes.

None of it in and of itself proves (nor disproves for that matter) that human trafficking and sex slaves are a way of life for Korean AMPS. You do have to admit though, it does make fine theater and great public relations for the various agencies.

Not in the Korean community, Been to to many amps, Know to many owners, dated to many of the girls.

As a side business venture I opened a small construction business, mostly re-modeling. Since I was at the amp's three to four times a week started getting some business from the mamasan's for remodel as they usually got taken advantage of and charged to much for re-model and repairs.

Long story short, have never met a "slave" at any of the amp's , most usually have kids they support, or gambling habits, or families back in Korea.

I have met entertainers, singers, and school teacher's in the Amp's, yes I even sat down and watched one fo the girls sing on the Korean channel KBS while at my residence drinking wine, and she worked in an AMP here in the states.

The Chinese, they pay around $60K to $75 K to get smuggled into the country. They have a support system you would not even begin to imagine including banking, lawyer's, real estate agent's, etc. etc. It is amazing how many illegal immigrants own house's and business here in the USA, but hey it works for them.

I have had Chinese Lawyer's wife's in the AMPS, the lawyers send there wife's here to work and when they get the "debt" paid off the use them as a contact to assist in the smuggling pipeline.

The "FED's" like the words "human trafficking" and "slave trade".
Give's then an excuse to seize all assets, business and private, been there seen it happen.

There is no human trafficking in the S Korean amps. nor the Chinese, it is all volunteer. WAV

Although based on the entire content of your previous post it is hard to accept you were kidding I will nevertheless accept that you were. I also accept that you have had the amount of experience you say you have even though you have only 9 posts here.

I've had the same amount of experience in terms of amount of years and probably the same or more in terms of relationships. I do not have a marriage experience with a Korean woman but I have had a number of long term relationships, including a couple of long term live in relationships with Korean women so I'm not without some knowledge when I try to discredit the misinformation about trafficking and enslavement LE wants us all to believe.

As for the other posts between this post and the one that started this debate (again) that attempt to provide further credible evidence of sex slavery and human trafficking, nothing so far amounts to hard evidence, let alone credible evidence of sex slavery and human trafficking of Korean women. It's the same "charged," "suspected." "alleged" stuff that we see in every press release from LE, including the one from the FBI. As for the rest of the story, there is no question that there are undocumented or temporary green card holders taking the chance to work in the business because its fast money. The question was and remains whether the Korean women working in the AMPs are victims of human trafficking and are enslaved sex workers. The bottom line is, insofar as Korean AMP workers are concerned, they are there willingly, they do it because they want to do it, and they are under no threat to continue doing what they are doing.

As for other ethnic MPs I cannot speculate. I believe it is entirely possible and probable that women are trafficked into this country for the sole purpose of prostitution and are forced against their will to participate.

There have been dozens of convictions for trafficking (not enslaving) in Korean women in the US. It appears the only convictions have been of the 'middle men', not the top dogs, who I suspect are not even in the US. I am not arguing your theories or stance, just your claim of no convictions.

My whole point wasn't whether or not its going on, because I really have no way to concrete prove it, other than what I read and what these girls have told me in confidence. I think the bottom line is, if it was easy to enforce this type of problem then it really wouldn't be an issue. These underground networks are so good at scare tactics and intimidation, that no one dares to talk, for fear of what my happen to them or their loved ones. Whatever is my outlook, it keeps the prices low. As for the old lady, what she doesn't know won't hurt her, but where do you think I found her in the first place, she is a rescue, kind of one of the reasons I am making this point.
