I've now seen multiple CL posts warning of a setup / robbery at this house in West Chicago (her ads generally list her location as "DuPage. ") It wasn't worth going to see her in the first place, but now you definitely don't want to go.

Ok guys I have to admit I'm new to "trying" to find happiness on Craigslist.

So far all I get is bs.

So what is the benefit to all of these fake ads? What do they gain.
Do they think we will really sign up for some website and give cc

Is kik for real. I've avoided this do to family on my iTunes account.

Any way to tell the real from fake other than unbelievable pix.

I don't use kik, so I'm not sure about that part of it.

The spam and fake ads are to get your phone or CC number. It must make someone money. CL is filled with idiots.

You can tell the fake ads and email responses from the real ones a few ways. Bad English is an immediate giveaway. Old-looking, pixelated photos means a spammer has definitely been recopying that photo into complete degradation. If they tell you to contact them at an email address and don't want to go through the CL relay, they are a scammer 99% of the time. If they ask you for your phone number right away (in the ad or in the first email), or it feels like they're rushing to ask for your phone number and are being weird about it: scammer.

If you become a regular at browsing the ads, you'll eventually be able to mostly tell the fakes from the reals just by reading the ad titles. Scammers use unnecessary symbols and punctuation and their use of English is just off (like they used a language translation dictionary and selected a slightly wrong word for the occasion). I can tell when emails are fake mostly by looking at the subject line and first and last names they use. But they are all easily identifiable when you open it up to bad English and them asking you to email them directly at some ridiculous sounding email address.

I've posted a few posts in the past about how to get the most out of CL based on my experience. Check them out. I meet real women all the time on there.

Many of the ads with phone numbers are from scammers. Always google the number first to make sure it is not but I'd never use the number unless I got a convincing response from the person.

Never respond to ads with a private email in them. If you get a response from an ad you answered and they want you to respond to a private email address, dump it.

Assume everything with an age or zip code in the title is fake. Like I am 28 yo. W4 m or 60076 TALK TO PLAY! - w4 m.

The more strange characters use in the title, the more likely it is fake. Like Un_happy // married==mom. W4 m or Un_happy // married==mom. W4 m or == NEeDDXXxxx))))== - w4 m.

Search the title in a wider area to see if it come up multiple time. A fake giveaway if I does.

Almost everything in w4 m with a pic is fake. You can google it or tineye it but even the ugly ones are seldom real.

I stay away from anything looking for you to contact them through kik or demanding a phone number and pic. I can't say they are fake but I'm not taking the chance.

Some people spell lousy but if the text stops in the middle of a sentence or doesn't make sense, it's a fake.
