The shittiest service I ever received was at a chain type restaurant (we're going to leave fast food joints out of the equation) The servers were over worked, underpaid (tipped) and the experience was just bad. Well the problem with this is they are seeking quantity. Meaning get the customer in, get the order, get the food out, get them done, clean up and get out. It's nature of the business model. I compare this to those high volume providers. They use the same technique. They burn out fast and get irritable with customers because of the volume dynamic.
The best service was at an upscale restaurant that was locally owned. Not only were the servers friendly, but they also cared about the satisfaction of the quality of the service and food. I frequent that location because of this fact. I also tip very well when I go there. I get seated right away and usually get preferential treatment because I equally am friendly, patient and enjoy talking to the staff. They know me, they know I am a good customer. I get taken care of. This organization has another restaurant in another state.
