Wen go cheers last night see what the deal is with this place. Parked on main drag as I'm always comforted knowing the homeless camped out can watch my ride. Not frequenting Kalihi kb much, I engulfed myself with the tunes of 2pac and Snoop Dogg to get in the right frame of mind. Expecting thugs, I was surprised clientele to be mostly over 50 singing off key love songs from the 70s. One dude was def in his 80s. Walked inside and first noticed a sausage fest at the bar. Was maybe 8 guys there for every working woman there. About the woman, no hotties no young things no anything with nice anything here. Maybe 6 or 8 older mid late 30s to 40ish kbgs here. Nothing to get excited about. I will say those I came across they were nice and ensured I had a drink. Think I'll go check out the kiddie bar thread.

There are KBs on the mainland but not like here. We have our own korean bar culture and most guys in Hawaii. Have been to one at least once. The lure of korean bars here is that MANY of the girls are just as hot as any korean actress, model, or Kpop singer. Some of these girls will put out for FS, take out and everything in between. However, unlike other venues where you know what is on the menu and know what you're paying for, KBs is a lot like Vegas. The skill for the bar girl is to make whomever she is with feel important or desired or smarter or more handsome or "the one". These girls are really good at that. There are guys that have lost everything, but, I am just guessing that it is not that common. Guys will spend too much sometimes but the riches to rags stories, although they occur, are not the norm. I've been a lvb in the past. Head over heals for the girl (s). Got laid got played and spent too much money for it all, but, sure had fun. I reached a limit and moved on. Heck I think 5 years ago $20 for a drinkee was average or maybe even expensive. A few Drinkee then you can buy the girl some time in the Private Booth.
I don't really follow the scene much. But as far as I can tell. What's basically been happening is all the guys who want the girls to put out are being drowned out by the guys who are willing to buy drink after drink (the girls make part of the cost as Tip as I recall) and don't ask for anything in return. They just want company or whatever. So the girls prefer those guys because they make more money for less work if they chase the LVBs. The people who are new to the scene see this and think the LVBs got it made cause the girls like them and always sit with them, so they copy the LVBs and a new crop of LVBs is planted. Meanwhile, those who want to actually partake of the girls services are hedged out because they spend less AND they expect more.

If you're a local guy you go in, have a drink, and there are girls there, not really pros, that you can buy drinks. They look like drinks but they are colored water. The chicks aren't pros and make a commission on the drinks.
If you're a local guy the chick drinks are a pretty reasonable price and it's mostly about just having somebody to talk to. I'm sure some of the guys get play. If you're an extranjero, the moment you sit down, the 4 ugliest chicks in the place are magically transported to your table along with a bottle of 2 dollar champagne that they charge 100 dollars for and some HUGE guy telling you to pay.

DB is on target. I would add that age is indeed a factor. Is there a "Pearl" for the 50, 60plus age group? Guys in their 20, 30, 40's may think its "stupit" but I see them in the KB bars all the time. Back in my era, you could find me down at the Wave closing it back when Sonya was there. Back then a drinkee was $5 at a hostess bar. A Waikiki cocktail was $3. 50 plus parking. Just seemed easier is all. Now-a-days, I'm thinking a guy on the wrong side of 60 would not be sitting with some hottie unless he's paying for it no matter where he is. Went to eat Spotlite grindz. Thanks Alohaoe for reminding me. Props to Spotlite mama as that is generous giving free ono food. Bars in Kalihi not bad busy for weds at CS,Gtea,Honu, and of course Spotlite. Few girls at most bars tho. Heard from a KBG that infamous Suji working PC and doing WELL there, LOL. Went home early which is rare for me.
BTW, I like all the recent posts but maybe we should move to the KB discussion thread if its more a discussion topic post altho I'm not complaining.
