I may very well be the only dinosaur in the clubhouse who does not fully understand how Google voice works, but if someone will kindly enlighten me, I will gladly leave the Jurassic period behind and come into the bright light of the modern world.
Specifically, if I get a GV number and set it to ring on my iphone, can I make calls out through the GV number as well? Can I maintain my secret identity, or will it show my real name etc? I lost my burner phone a few days ago, and wanted to explore the possibilities of GV before getting a new one.

You have to be careful when you do so so that you call from the GV app. If you are dinosaur enough that you don't have a smart phone, and thus no GV app, then you have to call the GV number, key in your PW and then the number you want to call. (or something like that). The problem with layering GV on your regular phone, is often in the heat of the battle (call gets dropped or something else) if one isn't careful they might call back using underlying phone's number!

Also you can set up GV to record calls, show the number calling when it rings through OR show your GV number, etc. But the nice thing is that you can block callers. So if you get in a situation where you need to "hide" from a girl, you just go into GV and block her! Of course if more drastic measures are needed, you dump the GV altogether and finally dump the burner phone.
Maybe other will have additional features they use or in a different way. This should give you layers of "protection. ".

Just when the SB is in eyeshot. And ideally not on a public street. The whole point is to minimize the risk of interference from the law as well.
BTW, being super paranoid, I also have taped over (black electrical tape) the last digits of the VIN on my car, which I believe must be visible from the outside to comply with some statute. If LE really wants it they can peel off the tape, but a SB w / a smart phone can't take a snap of it and then get someone to track down the owner of that VIN.

I think it is unlikely LE would notice it. If it is that easily seen, well, it's crap and don't buy it. I am way more worried about my SO seeing it. She is into cars and drives mine sometime. It's just not a solution for me. As I said, in California you get a piece of paper in a plastic wrapper to put on your windshield while you are waiting months for your plates to come from the DMV, so LE is used to seeing cars w / no plates but the little plastic packet. They're too busy doing other real LE work to stop every car and peek into the packet. So, my ideal solution is to get a new car, save the plastic envelope once I have the plate, and just take the plate off when seeing a girl.
Don't worry about the girl (not just a POT. I kept my real plate from every SB I've had. You have to worry about the ones you've been in an arrangement w / going nuts and trying to track you down way more than just someone you've met) trying to memorize the plate. This is GenX. You don't think she could find some cop, court clerk or DMV dolt she could not blow for free to get a plate run or other information?

I've reported some methods for getting intel on a girl, and some have thought it too creepy. I'll give you a rationale for doing it.
Many POTs want to text so you get their # right away. I had a monger FB page (same info as my SA profile) for a while, but FB asked me to I'd validate so it doesn't work anymore. However, I have a page for a dormant business I can log onto and it still works for searches. It amazes me that like 75% of the #s I enter take me right to her page. What do I get there? I get to see her real pictures, so if she is only sharing headshots, I can tell if she's thick. I can also download them. It is way more likely they have EXIF and GPS data that will be useful for me to validate she is who she says.
I think it is useful to know if she is married / in a relationship. Not so I can lord it over her, to protect myself. I reported a MnG that was immediately discovered by the lady's hubby b / c he waited for her to fall asleep, used her finger to unlock her phone, and SA was running. He messaged me from her SA account threatening exposure to my wife. Now, my operational security was air-tight, so I wasn't worried, but this goes to show you can never assume that a message you send to her goes only to her. It might go to him if he suspects. A bowl brother suggested that if a SB w / a SO is meeting you at a hotel, NEVER text the room # to her. If somehow she has poor security and he gets the message, he can literally come bang on your door. Meet her in the lobby and walk her up.
I make a PDF copy of her FB page and keep the photos of her on my secret drive. I star the file names of those that include GPS locations. That all is in my hip pocket in case she ever comes at me w / an extortion threat, I can threaten right back. Of course, no one wants to ever use the stuff, b / c if I am using it it means she has outed me to the SO (though that also means I screwed up in letting personal info get into her hands).
What else do I get from FB? Her likes tell me how to choose a $20 gift card for the initial meet that will mean more than a $50 bill. You get to see pix of her w / her kid that she doesn't mention on her profile, so you know pretty much she can't host. All of that is helpful. When I am done there, I am sure to clear my search history. You really do not want FB to start suggesting your business to girls you've been sleuthing. They say your search history is private, but that means private from the world, not from FB.

If you have a beauty that you wish to show at conventions, meet-ups, the local drive-in, you may not wish to have your tags on display for every collector or thief to find you and hassle you or steal your ride. So you buy one of these, install it and hide your tag during the show or meet up. Also, who wants their car with tag photographed at such a meeting and then displayed all over the 'net?

Ended up pulling up to a light next to a white van with black lettering [B] XXX(Municipality)YYY Scofflaw.[/B] I thought it was a puzzling business name, until I looked in the mirror and saw a uniformed LE in the passenger seat and THEN noticed several sets of cameras mounted on the vehicle aimed so the unit has 360 scanning ability. So they drive down the street, picking off expired, unregistered, suspended plates and arrest the driver or boot, tow or impound the car! Ain't computers great?
I will also note that there are a plethora of films & covers that one can buy that purport to obscure plates from these camera scanning devices. I think the legality of them is on a case-by-case basis meaning each state or municipality has a different code.

But sheet! Before I had this kind of tool, I just made sure I parked in a less conspicuous location. So yeah, Barney Fife might notice such, but if you are parked on private property it would seem one has broken no laws. You need to display a proper plate to operate on public roadways. Me thinks one could demonstrate in whatever court, that they have a valid plate and LE has no evidence that a car parked, was indeed operated on a public roadway with an invalid plate. (Where is the evidence of such? As far as I know, the law isn't based on "inference. ") LE can always do whatever they want whether it is legal or not. Sometimes one has to just stand up for themself in the judicial system and beat back these over reaches.

As OP mentioned, a young girl might just take a cell phone photo of your ride. Maybe they read this forum or share info through b / c on SA? Maybe they are advised to do so as a safety measure: take pic, email it to self, so that if they end up missing, email has a clue where to go looking? I side step all of this by simply never staying with the same girl too long, and certainly never getting emotionally involved with them. The downside to truly protecting your anonymity is to resist the urge to save money by being a part of their real life, and be willing to walk away from pussy.
Example: I meet an amazing stripper and buy her out of her work shift that night to go home with me. Some of the best sex I've had in a while, so I text her when I'm in town again, it's her night off but this time she wants a "real date" (I. E. Not about money). She wants to treat me to a night on the town. At that point I'm not in TOO deep, so of course I go for it,. More great sex ensues, but of course the writing is on the wall, she starts asking about what if she got pregnant, giving off clingy girlfriend vibes etc. Next night she wants me to come by her work and see her (yes sit there and talk to her between dances for customers and wait for her shift to be over). As OP have said, LE is pretty busy (or should be) with other things to run around scanning plates in public parking lots. But sheet! In some states, the plate stays w / the car. In others, the plate stays w / the person. California takes the former approach (unless it is a vanity plate. Obviously anathema for a SD). I also stripped every other distinguishing feature off my car when I began in the bowl, and of course remove my parking hangtag, radar detector, etc., every distinguishing feature, before I see a SB. I am looking forward to buying my next car for reasons I stated earlier. How do you go dormant on SA? I've been totally deactivating, and maybe getting on now and then, and going back inactive. Whenever I am on w / a paid membership, I am hidden from search, but I don't think this option is available when you aren't paid. I do this to minimize the risk of SO discovery, and also to avoid having my SBs know I am on there (though I don't have to deactivate to do this. I can and have just blocked them). I don't usually deactivate, but block any prior SB's I don't want to know that I am active. Yes, they can create alternate profiles or search using a friend's account, but that's a reasonable risk for me.

It is also true that in the remote chance that one gets stopped over then, comparatively speaking, driving with old / expired plates is much less serious offense compared to driving with incorrect plates which is considered as committing fraud.
Yes. You could 'confess' to LE that you did that only to escape from a stalker SB but getting away from the car getting impounded or avoiding going to the court is squarely in the hands of the Cop.
