I figured I would join in and confirm what others are saying. Was thinking about trying Craigslist or Backpage last year and decided to jump into SA in early January. Best freaking 85 $ I've ever spent in my life! Here is my experience, hope it helps others!
I'm late 30's, would say I'm a 8 or 9 out of 10. I'm was never a ladies man. The classic nerdy kid who just happened to have a 30's mid-life crisis and started getting into shape. I'm only saying this here, to give an idea of how the girls on SA respond / etc. I could probably be successful at the bar or Tinder, but I don't have the time now, and I was never good at being a player.
You need to make sure you have spare time the first few days you join SA. I posted a fairly normal pic, plus a fairly straight forward profile. NSA, I'm fun, like to cook, enjoying life, etc. The first few days I was spreading the net pretty wide. I'm not too picky, was looking for anything good looking between 18 and 45. I was constantly hit up by women, and I would say be super careful with the ones that hit you up. Very few of those went anywhere. I also suspected they were Backpage, or possibly high mileage babies. My target were chicks with fairly new profiles (last 10 months or so) and seem at first glance to be authentic. You will have to do a decent amount of filtering. I was very swamped. I feel like they would categorize into the following:
1) Good BP pro's or basically well versed pay to play babies. These girls would get to a number very, very fast. Any that were hot enough, usually had GPS. There may be a perl in there, if you are not too picky about looks.
2) DTF chicks: These are the normal girls that usually have high sex drives, and need money (rent, expensive hobby, or like nice things). This is my sweet spot. Most require more work than #1 with conversation, but the time invested is totally worth it. Reasonable rate, mostly bare back, experienced (so no dead fish), but also not high mileage. I prefer the early 30's, but there are horny co-eds in there too. You usually need to have a talking game. I won't go into details, but it's already been covered. They want to fuck, but have some bar.
3) The unicorns: These are brand new babes to SA, or have been on a while, but don't have a daddy because they are so paranoid. These girls require a TON of work. Lots of flakes, no-shows, ghosting. BUT, and I say BUT, you can land a baby that is absolutely smoking 11/10, and you may be their #2 or #3 ever. I've landed one. It took a shit ton of time, and I almost gave up after a few weeks, but I was literally her #2. Had one serious high school BF and was looking to try something new. (can't make this up). They are not experienced like #2 types, but if you want to lay pipe in a smoking hot, ultra low mileage chick, this is the long and hard road. I seriously doubt she is even talking to anyone else (#2 on my list probably have a few daddy's in their stable).
I've piped five total sugar babies (all I have time for) and settled down to two regulars. They followed the above fairly well. Names changed:
Ashley #1 (type) - Premium member on SA (8/10 looks). Met up with her because she was my break-in chick on SA, or mongering at all. She was hot, quick banter that quickly let to a meeting and price. Probably paid too much 4 $ Covered, because I didn't want to risk it. Didn't go back.
Beverly #2 (type) - Normal profile, good looks (8/10). Single mom out of Buford. Talked for a few days, texted, finally met up. Went directly back to her place after the initial meet up. She liked dick, and knew how to work it. Never even asked for money. All bareback She dropped off the radar after a few months.
Ansley #2 (type) - UGA chick. Smoking hot (10/10) Blonde, tight body, amazing to look at naked. She was used to nice stuff at home, and now didn't like poor college life. I talked with her a few days, finally met up for lunch, went back to her place. I was in a 10+ year relationship with a nympho, and could have sex twice a day, every day. This a million times over! They are not going to be living with you, and how long do you really see and talk to them in total? Being nice, asking the right questions about them (everyone loves someone who shows interest in their activities / hobbies) and acting like you care go way further than the money as hard as it is to believe. They want the money, but if you can play the game, you will have them hook, line, and sinker. There is something wrong with the guys in their 30's /20's out there now.

I wanted to add three things.
1) Stick with your spidey sense as others have said. Don't let your spidey sense get overruled by Mr. Happy. You will get your dick wet, and they are out there. You just have to play it safe. I'm very good at reading people, talking, etc. And I got fucked over once in the beginning too. I would of posted her info, but her number and profile were already probably down before I even came in her.
2) If you are going for the #2 or #3's, once you get their number (I've always received a real cell number) I have always been able to plug the number into Facebook search bar, and immediately find their FB page. You know almost 100% then. I haven't run into a fake FB account yet, but follow your spidey sense again when looking at it.

There is even a free smartphone app. Program works and it's two 1-hour workouts a week. I'm five months in, and it's amazing. I saw a shirt once. "Cardio drops pounds, weightlifting drops panties". 100% true. I mentioned before. I'm probably a 7 or 8 on looks. Normal body shape. A few months into this program, and I'm starting to get fuck me eyes when I stop into the local hardware store, and the high school girl is working that day.
