Still, some stricter shops (such as the one I used to go to some years ago) were wary that anything they let 'slide' would 'come back to them'. Although I had 'legal tint', they still would test it every time. The good thing though, was that they once caught an issue under the carriage that I would have not seen without the vehicle up on a lift.

Everything is hi-tech now, as Hypo says and I have observed at my last check. Actually, the tech they use now is kind of nuts (especially considering how caveman-like my shop is), but I figure it's all in response to years and decades of the kinds of things LE sees out on the roads.

I keep my vehicle in compliance because I never feel like talking to cops, but I've known guys who play the odds and don't care if they get cited, such as for tint.

Finally got it passed though.

I have "heard" that now there is a 3rd party person who will take "pictures" of your vehicle with an iPad, then with the new 411 on the sticker itself, shops can get tracked super easily.

What is my point to all of this? Per elbitcho1's post about losing his willy while doing a deed with a SW in the SW thread, he saw a square old lady pass him by and she was probably stunned at his actions. Shame ah? Grown man soliciting and engaging in the act of prostitution in plain sight (broad daylight? He didn't say what time the deed occurred) but nevertheless, when I had all my "exciting, nervous, adrenaline pumping deeds" done with streetwalkers, the thrill of having her say "pull over here" on the sidewalk was a turn on. BUT- I always had my illegal tint to count on! Once I put my sun shade up, especially if it was nighttime, there'd be no way you could see in my car- unless you went right up to it and placed both your hands on your face on the glass.

Maybe I should legalize my tint. (Groaning over removal/new tint cost already) I'd really hate to give up my tint, it makes it look pimp. I guess I could survive off 35% tint, but my days of streetwalker / downtown mongering would be over. Not too many SW's have hotels or places to go to. In all my voyages, it was always in a secluded place or a sidewalk- best one was right in front of the Chinese townhouses on Kukui, where the senior folk do their Tai-Chi in the morning- nobody could see me, but I seen a couple of them glance in my car's direction probably due to the rocking and rolling, haha.

When one of the workers placed the 1 piece sticker on, I thought he made a mistake and put the wrong sticker. I drove around looking at other vehicles and noticed no car / truck has that white sticker on. I almost was going to go back to the station and askum why the sticker look different. LOL.

I notice at DMV in pearlridge, they handing out numbers. You sit down and wait and they display the numbers on the TV screens until they call you're number. I guess they doing this so you don't stand for a long time. Instead, you sit for a long time.

I use to have tint on my other car (legal 35%) but, I didn't like the fact that I had to pay alittle more on the safety check because they used that meter to check if the tint was legal. Having tint on your windows help with the AC. It's faster to cool the interior because of the tint. It's not as hot with the tint.

I am looking for a provider with lots of tattoos. It is a huge turn out for me to be serviced by someone with lots of ink which is nicely done. I was at the sheraton this weekend and there was a girl covered in ink and she had a body like a brick shithouse like you would see in an ink magazine. Does anyone know of anyone who lots of ink that provides good service?

How do kbg get away from paying taxes? Everybody knows they make a lot of money.

My friend who just got his sticker at jiffy lube said before they even started the process the worker told him to change his windshield wipers. When he went into pay he noticed there was a line of people awaiting for their windshield wipers to be changed. But to my understanding though, if your car is compliant with the laws you shouldn't have any harder time than before. If you put modifications to your car then things maybe more difficult.

They all had to file taxes both for the salary as well as for expected tip income. Paying taxes was worth the insurance coverage and the reported tip income was way less than actual.

Before they would do the safety check charge you, tell you you neva pass because something wrong with your car. The tint check was in place over 15-20 years.

Before the new stuff the service station people can let checks slide. Was easy to find a station who would pass cars that were modified or easy to slip the guy some $$ to pass your car. The new checks and rules are on the ipad so the safety check people cannot let things slide anymore and let cars get passed. They have to take pics of parts of the car, license plate, vin and whatevas to make sure the car passes so the process cannot be abused anymore. Many people just assumed that their cars get passed but not anymore, they got to go through the process and get modification permits for their car to pass safety checks. A number of places didn't want the trouble so don't so safety checks anymore, other places were getting some $$ for passing illegal cars so stopped doing it because there was no money to make anymore.

On all points. Again, I'm looking at going legal on my tint anyway, 35%. I haven't had a car sesh for a long time. Perhaps its time I go straight. Hard to imagine all the other illegal cars with illegal tint (and more) getting away with it though. Cops in vegas and other parts of the USA bust felons for real crimes, not chasing asian boys with their rice toys citing them for modifications.

It's the "safety" part of the safety check that annoys me. It seems to me like an extra tax they have that also gives cops excuses to give tickets. It also isn't completely fair across the board... You see those personal vehicles that cops own that have blacked out tint and modifications up the ass (like blinged out rims, why do cops need rims and they give out tickets to those who don't have recon to others but pass themselves? That is hypocracy) but don't need recon?

H.[/QUOTE]If you are looking to get a lighter tint that can block heat the same, get ceramic. It costs more money but is definitely worth it. On the Benz I had a few years ago I had the 5% removed and replaced with ceramic. Even at 35% versus 5% it blocked out heat a lot better. When I got my latest car, they started offering 95% tint on the windshield and 35% on all other windows at tint shops. You can't tell the tint on the windshield is there, but it makes a world of difference in blocking the heat. If you are keeping your car for awhile, it is worth the investment for the comfort in my opinion.
