I mention that not to take a shot at a race, but to point out that we're engaging in risky behavior so we're more likely to develop sti than someone who doesn't. I just didn't want people to think they're possibly more immune because of their race.

Was there any particular reason you singled out Blacks vs other races?

The first being that one race is only mentioned. Second, where was the study conducted? Third, Was it a double-blind study? Fourth, What are the statistics on error? Fifth, who is behind the study (names of doctors, etc. And qualifications)?

One should always question regardless of it being scientific or not. Scientists are not without bias.

Some races are predisposed to some diseases, eg sickle cell anemia, lactose intolerance, etc. Obviously more research is needed, I'm just posting the findings of the studies.

.[/QUOTE]Actually I mentioned blacks [i]and[/i] whites. I mentioned those two races because they are the most common to find working in this business on the street in this area. For the record, asians had the lowest incidence of HSV-2 infections, and hispanics were between whites and blacks.

Doctors involuved were F Xu, MD, PhD, MR Sternberg, PhD, SL Gottlieb, MD, SM Berman, MD, LE Markowitz, MD, SE Forhan, MD, LD Taylor, DrPH. Again, can you produce a link so that I can read the report for myself. I would like to know if it was peer reviewed. Also, what neighborhoods in Massachusetts did they conduct the statistical analysis. You see any report can be skewed. For example, say they did STI testing in white majority affluent neighborhoods with only Caucasians and tested improvised neighborhoods with only African-Americans / blacks. Is one to concluded that it is by race or income or education level?

I have a problem with a study that singles out race. I have a bigger problem with a member saying that a particular race has a predisposition to a STI. As far as I know and even looked today for further research on the matter, there is no such thing. In these times we are living, I seriously question any findings with race that hides behind science or anything else that makes up the excuse for bigotry.

There is no evidence of any racial group including blacks being predisposed to an STI as Ho Hunter 328 wants to point out. Yes, sickle cell is a genetic disease inherited from descents of sub-Saharan Africa. However, lactose intolerance is vastly seen around the world and is not limited to one racial group. And yes, more research is needed before someone maked racists statements like this.
