Stay cool. This might be a sign of greater activity in our region![/QUOTE]I also posted the following on the Hartford board:
From the NBC Connecticut website:
"State police have arrested a Chinese national after an investigation into prostitution at an East Granby massage parlor.
"Police say troopers, as well as Department of Homeland Security Investigations personnel, raided the Joy Healing Spa on Wednesday while investigating allegations of prostitution at the spa located at 56 Rainbow Road.
"According to state police, spa employees were engaged in prostitution and 49-year-old "L. C. " a Chinese national who lives in Flushing, New York, was arrested and charged with prostitution.
"She was released on $10,000 bond and is due in court in Enfield on November 30. ".
Both State Police and Homeland Security? That's a lot of manpower targeted towards an out-of-the-way place (a small strip mall with no residences or schools within walking distance) where prostitution may or may not be actually taking place behind closed doors. Nice to see our taxpaying dollar dedicated to fighting serious crime, LOL.
The irony here is that this story appeared the same day that it was announced that the State of Connecticut is broke and there is a proposal to cut every state agent's budget (including that of the State Police) by 10%. Hopefully the 10% cut will get the State Police to forget about such low-hanging fruit and start fighting real crime.
And who made the allegations? I doubt if it was the main tenant in that strip mall, a liquor store whose business may drop now that the spa has been closed.
