Unnerving but going in doesn't mean much
Go at your own discretion.
Saw a recent notice on a door.
Police need to know the exact crime committed after you enter the apartment. Could be buying stolen guns, maybe drugs, hell might be buying girls. All the same, they need to know the crime that was committed to charge.
To figure out who you are, more likely than not, they would need something, like the license plate from the vehicle you used to get there. Not sure they have facial recognition that can be used against CA DL pictures, not sure if the video captured would be good enough to use as something to search for, etc. I'd guess, before they could just go to looking thru all CA DL's, they would need evidence of a crime that you actually committed, back to my 2nd sentence.
Suppose they do have your plate, and have figured out who you are. They are still at my 2nd sentence, need to have evidence of something.
As discussed before, seems plausible they could come to ones front door and attempt to interview you. Not sure what they need in terms of proof, as they would likely be conducting an investigation and trying to develop evidence.
For some of us, that might not be a big deal. Showing up around dinner time for many of us, that would be a big deal. It would be hard to explain to the wife / SO, that police somehow believe you know something about some prostitution activity in some apartment complex, which guessing, very few of us have any reason to be in that complex, or reason to be anywhere near the complex.
Some have said, scare tactics. Landlord is hoping the Org leaves the unit. LL can rent out the unit, probably for a much better rental price.
