I was going to add that there is several clues to check genuine notes such as crackly sound of cotton paper, tiny red and blue fibers, water mark seal, and newer color and holograms.

With the ability to produce photographic dollars, the government wanted to a way to keep track of what people were doing that they shouldn't be doing. It was on floppy drives too.
