I think he's making reference to the fact that good ol' Uncle Leo has been very public about the stings and increases in enforcement that have taken place on the main strolls during this summer season. Just a few years back, Seattle would get busloads of working girls migrating in for the seasonable weather from hotter parts of the country, like the desert Southwest. The city claims that these hotels are rife with prostitution, and they are trying really hard to shut them down by going after them with owed taxes. It's only a matter of time.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, they've closed quite a few motels in the past, the first being the infamous Civic Center Motel, near the Pepsi sign on Aloha and Aurora about 12 years ago. There used be be a real sleazy motel where the Denny area Holiday Inn is now. The Bridge Motel was shut down for the same reasons.

I'm with Civ2000 on this. LE has been trying to stamp out the hobby since at least 1500 B.C. You can see what success they've had. Usually "clamping down" on motels means that someone with a lot of money (I would guess Paul Allen, but what do I know?) is interested in taking over the property and building something fancy. Strangely, the only times I rented rooms in the old Civic Center was when I was with civilians. I had a girlfriend back in the '80s who was alergic to my pets...

Actually it's both. The police over a two-year period responded to almost a 1000 calls to those motels. That pisses the police off. They feel they have better things to do than show up at the Fremont Inn 50 times a month.

And it's not really business owners that are calling the police to complain of drug sales and prostitutes, because the Ho'ver Pass area where most of those motels is located doesn't have many businesses, except cheap flea bag motels and Blue Video. It's the residents of Wallingford and Fremont. And I understand their pain.

Agreed. I seldom, if ever cruise Denny/Hostess anymore. There was a time when you could sometimes find something decent, but over the last year or so it really seems to have gone down hill.

I didn't date or have relationships for a looooooong time until recently. However, if a couple mutually engages in this kind of thing, the relationship can survive ONLY if both of them agree and adhere to certain rules. Couldn't agree more. It's been proven that with only very rare exceptions, "open" or other alternative relationships do not work. It's just not within our DNA to allow our significant other to get their freak thing on with other people without it somehow affecting how we feel about ourselves in relationship to the others that are also feeding at our trough. Good luck to you man, but if it really is important to you I'd focus on it 100%.

I prefer being in a relationship, and try to remain 100% loyal to my SO when I am. I'm not always successful, but that is usually a good determinate of how well the relationship is going. When I cheat the relationship is usually doomed.

9:30pm Friday evening, made a circle through DP saw an older gal but not very attractive so I swung back around and was heading for Aurora when a cop pulled me over. Asked for license and insurance, asked if I was lost and that was why I was driving in circles. Told him no I was heading home to Burien, he tried to get me to tell him where I was going to or from and I played dumb, started politely saying "I don't know" to his questions. He actually smiled (almost like he appreciated my unwillingness to implicate myself and the fact I was doing it in a polite manner) and after running my license told me I was free to go with a warning and said that if I knew what the folks down here had (as in diseases) I would be horrified and wouldn't be looking around down there. At one point he said "this is my beat" and I got the clear implication he's noting my presence and won't be so nice the next time he finds me down there. Overall though, he was very nice, almost cordial, and not the asshole that the Vancouver BC cops are when they hassle john's on the Hastings strip.

Ok, it's 3 am Saturday morning, what the hell is going on? There are so many cops out and stopping the sw's. It's dead for the most part. There were a few that I did consider stopping for, but didn't.

Oh well, time to go to bed.

On The news last night, there was a report on Kent Police doing a John Sting and then impounding the cars of those caught. They got 12 cars, I think.

Actually there were 12 arrests and 8 auto impounds. I'm assuming the 4 who were arrested and didn't get their cars impounded approached the decoy by foot. No one got busted picking up or patronizing a prostitute, they all got busted and lost their cars talking to a police decoy through the window of their cars. Same thing happened to me several months ago while pulling out of DP into the Hostess area. The cop had tailed me for a long time and I began to think about heading toward I-5 to shake him. Sure enough, as soon as I made a beeline for Mercer he pulled me over and asked me the same questions. He kept asking why I was there by myself, cruising through the area alone. He said, "guys just...circle. They circle this area for hours on end. What are you doing here?". I just kept replying, "I guess I don't really understand why you are asking me that question" in a polite tone. He finally smiled and said, "look, i'm conducting a [i]survey[/i] - and you don't have to answer - on why guys come down to this area at night alone and just circle the blocks". I stuck to my guns and said again, "I really just don't understand why you are asking me such questions". He finally smiled and said calmly, "I don't have time for this", turned and walked back to his car.

Since then i've been tailed a few times in the area by police and I always head straight to I-5. The cop always does a u-turn to head back to DP/Hostess once I hit the I-5 entrance ramp.

Last night, the police sat in their suv and videoed people driving through the area. What a huge wast of resources. I can see why why people in Seattle gave Nick(A)holes the boot.
