Thank you TJ_Dog, Horsetrader, Hargow, George, Memo. I know all us Tijuana virgins are so grateful.
What do you think of the hotel called the Hacienda de Santiago at the intersection of Coahuila and Revolucion? Their rooms look pretty nice on YouTube and the cost is 40/ night. Since the hotel is at that far Coahuila corner, will it be safe to walk from Revolucion to Constitucion?
I like Hacienda de Santiago because YouTube's video tour of a room shows it has windows. I'm a little concerned about staying in a hotel room without windows for fresh air, but even so, I probably will also try Leyva and Cascadas and / or Rizo de Oro, and maybe even further-away Zaragoza, Plaza de Oro (at Revo and 2nd), and Hotel London.
Does Leyva have a front desk safe you can use to store 300 to 500 and know it will be there a couple days later?

It is strictly a motel to go and crash when your drunk. I also like it because it's in the zona per se. I've never stayed at Santiago but I always see police activity down that way and have heard some complaints about being harassed by police walking down there. From the outside it looks like a nice place though. Also, leyva does not have windows except for a little on in the bathroom. I think whatever you do, if your walking find a place to stay in the zona. It's always a little bit safer then walking all over Tijuana late at night. Hope this helps.

The rooms are nice and they are chica friendly. My recollection of the walk along Cohuilla, from Revolution to Constitution is that it was kind of rough. I've done it a number of times at night. To go to La Tropa, across the street from the Santiago. However, there's no way I would take that walk after about midnight, particularly when the bars and other businesses start to close.
A bonus. Hacienda de Santiago is (at least used to be) right near the place where the bar girls go to get their health cards.

Okay fellas, I'll stick to nearby Leyva, Cascadas, and Rizo since I can see myself at 2 or 4 AM in the morning taking a stroll in the "T" streets formed by the Alley and Constitution, and wouldn't want to chance a walk from further-off Hacienda de Santiago. Thanks! Are the two "T" streets safe at 2 AM and 5 AM even if you see no one around? Someone posted a map here several years ago showing the "T" is safe for night walking, but what if the "T" is deserted or only has a few SGs?
Maybe we're talking a different incident. The one I remember was in the late 1990's. Guy was way drunk (error #1). Took a chica to the Leyva. A older female friend of the chica knocked on the door and he allowed the chica to let her in (error #2). While he was in a drunken stupor (result of error #1) the old lady let a guy in who robbed the guy and took all his clothing.
I'm a little embarrassed to admit this but back about 14 or 15 years ago (1999 or 2000) I got a room at Leyva facing the street (with hidden interior hallway) on about the 3rd floor, at that time I had been staying at Leyva most weekends as my ATF was next door in the then rocking Chicago Club, anyway I had a full suitcase of nice stuff including some electronics and stepped out for just an hour in the mid afternoon and when I returned ALL my valuable were gone.
Lessons learned to never let your guard down and never carry or bring anything that you can't easily replace.
BTW. I stayed this past Friday and Saturday at Leyva but now only in the rooms facing the interior parking area and only bring a change of cloths.
Have fun all!
The Tall Man.

Last I remember Constitution from Cohuilla to the alley and the alley itself were lined with street girls and customers all night long. There were at least 5 bars open all night, plus a couple of restaurants were open all night. Worst I ever experienced was some young scuzzo trying to pick my pocket in the alley, around 1:00 am IMO pretty safe 24/7.

I usually avoid Tijuana at night. There is simply to many shadows for the banditos to hide.

TJnightwalker created and posted this Night Time walking map of Tijuana. The map points out relatively safe streets, streets to be careful on, and streets to avoid. Any comments? He created this map in November of 2005, almost 10 years ago.

I'd just put the section of Cohuilla, from Revo to Constitution, more to a red color after maybe midnight.

I can't believe the kin kle club got left off. Ha. Jeez how I miss the old Tijuana before they turned all the bars into American strip clubs.

The Tall Man.
They have duplicate keys to those rooms. Also, you can always tell if someone has been tampering with a knob or if there's forced entry. Most times I stay at this place it's just to crash til morning. I hardly ever leave the room after I ck in.

Do Tijuana's ATMs let you take out $200 or $300 at a time, or ONLY $100? There are some ATMs in Washington Park, Illinois; Brooklyn, Illinois, and Sauget, Illinois (great strip club cities) that only dispense $100 at a time. The ATMs inside some strip clubs will let you withdraw 200 at a time, but then they ding you with a $20 fee.
And do Tijuana's ATMs dispense in pesos, dollars, or your choice? I guess I'm asking about the ATMs in the Cascadas, Hong Kong, Leyva area, NOT the ones further south on Revolution which would be a long walk away through apparently less-than-safe streets.

I think you'd have to go to the Revo area or Zona Rio (not much of a cab ride either way).
