And we shouldn't lose sight of how much this depended on others-hobbyists and providers, in all innocence or with malicious intent-repeating this stuff over and over on public boards, as if "Hey, I heard so-and-so is working with leo" will 1) gather some sort of official confirmation ("Hi, luvsboobs89, I'm Sheriff Ross Pilcherd, and I can affirm that yes, she's one of us now.") or 2) finally solve the mystery of why Central Indiana providers and hobbyists have been disappearing like Columbian peasants. It makes no frigging sense, not even if someone is credulous enough to believe or wonder about the rumors. And it makes no sense because if you can't trust established providers with great reputations, how can you trust anyone? And, especially, how can you trust people blathering on the internets?

It's easy to blame all this on some cranky provider who was a source for much of this, and whose public behavior was something short of sane and reasonable, and to accept "professional jealousy" or "not enough lithium" as explanations. And maybe that's all there was to it, but the fact is that her extended rants included some accurate personal details about people alongside the There's A Big Bust A'Coming and accusations of people turning rat. She got this from somewhere. Gossiping hobbyist or talkative provider? Leo (she claimed a source inside the DAs office, but she uncorked some laughably illiterate legal notions)? Some industry insider who traffics in rumor and bust roundups, and imagines he's taking over the world? I dunno, but I do know that people can wise up and realize that repeating rumors is in no one's interest.

Had another dream about this little spinner this afternoon. My dreams about her get more and more intense.
