I had bed bugs a few years back when I was traveling a lot, it was a nightmare. Took months to get rid of them, had to toss a perfectly good mattress and bedding. Now I'm extremely cautious when visiting hotels. If you must visit a flea bag here are some tips. Never let your clothes touch the floor! Put your shoes back on after taking off your clothes. Travel with your own bedding. Preferably white or a light color that bed bugs or any other pest will be easy to detect on. Kmart, Walmart and those dollar stores have sheets and blankets really cheap that you can toss when you are done (this might cost you 5-10 bucks per date but it beats bed bugs). Bring your own towels. Inspect the room, lift up the mattress, check the carpet, if you see a lot of them get out of there. The other big problem is that girls who frequent those motels may be carrying bed bugs on their person. In this case you are doomed because now they are in you car or you got them from contact with her clothes. Bedbugs reproduce daily so you could come into contact with just one pregnant female and have an infestation.

"Lift up the mattress" This is good advice also.

Before I rent a lodgings room, or after if I can't see it before, I take about 2 minutes to look under the sheet.

And under the mattress, behind the nightstand, look inside the pillowcase at the pillow.

There is info on the net about what to look for.

I don't do the other things mentioned in the post.



I'd like to correct one misconception many have. Bedbugs are not related to dirt nor related to cheap lodgings.

Bedbugs have been found in top hotels and Times Square NYC movie theaters.

Price is no guarantee of not finding them.
