Had some time to kill while in the area, so I went to an old favorite, Anthony's. Use to go there in the earlier part of this decade, and the place really rocked. So I decided to give it a try. Arrived around 7 on a Wednesday, paid $5 to get in, and found it almost empty. Now back in the day it would have a really good after work crowd, and plenty of dancers, but I guess those days are gone. The club is very large, so the lack of patrons is more noticeable.

There were 7 customers & 3 dancers that were there while I visited, which was only an hour. I will say that the dancers were very attractive, but I only caught the end of the first dancer's set, a hot looking blonde who left for the dressing room upon leaving the stage. The 2nd one that came up, a slender black girl, didn't even bother to dance. She got some guy to buy a lap dance right away, and left the stage. So for 10 miutes there was nothing. Now there's a place a haven't been to in a long while. As I recall, the girls there were always nice. Is the economy the reason you only spent an hour there? Not a heck of a lot of reasons to spend an hour in a club. The few that I can think of are; lack of funds, lack of girls, watered down booze, dangerous clientele or getting what you want.

I agree, an hour isn't enough time to scope out the available talent, so I plan to return as soon as I can. I use to work in Amherst alot, so I would go to Anthony's after work, and I have some great memories from that place. Lots of very attractive dancers. I use to get take-out occasionally; it required dropping some dough for LD's for a few nights, making friends, then playing it by ear. Some girls would drop hints, others would have to be asked. Now this was back when there were limited ways of finding girls that weren't SW's. No sites like this existed, at least to my knowledge, and the girls certainly didn't have websites. The "Gras" recently earned the distinction of being the site of the first homicide of the year in Springfield. Some heads rolled a a result and some of the bouncers have been shuffled around to the other bars.

Another effect at Anthony's: the VIP area was revamped, replacing the old opaque screens with transparent curtains while bouncers that looked the other way have been replaced by anal retentive clock watchers.

On the plus side, they are bringing in more new / younger 'talent' and trying to move the place a notch up-scale. Even so, the place remains something of a 'single mothers haven.' And, given the current state of the economy an awful lot still happens here in spite of the new regime.

Closing thoughts: don't tip at the stage the action will come to you; never discount the potential of barely legal Brazilian sisters & their cousin; the day/night shift change is ALWAYS the best time to retire to the VIP room if your favorite hottie is available; tip the bartender; bring cash - they have a 15% surcharge on ATM and credit card transactions - there are a bunch of bank ATMS on Memorial Drive.

With all the heat that has been around of late, I have been too skittish to make a score in the South End. I have a couple of questions in that regard.

Was in town on business and went by the Hancock St area twice around 5-6pm. I was with a friend, and I was driving, so I couldn't cruise, but looking down Hancock I saw no one. They all have drug habits and no one is doing it to pay their tuition or to buy school clothes or because they're hungry or because they're late on their rent. I have never met an exception, even among those who claim they don't have a habit. They all do. I don't mean that in a disparaging way. It's just the unfortunate fact.

I also don't think there are many. If any. Who haven't been the victims of sexual abuse in their past, usually in childhood. And I think the drug habit is intricately linked to that experience. I think it starts out as medication and just quickly becomes full-blown addiction.

My point in making the distinction with this particular girl is that some of these women unfortunately lose any sense of conscience early on. They have no problem reaching for your wallet, stealing something out of your vehicle, taking your money upfront, then jumping out of the car, etc. I really don't know this girl all that well, but my sense is that, despite the habit, she still has a little conscience left. But guard you wallet just the same. I could be completely wrong.
