Nowadays you have less guys going to bars so kinda better to be a bg than the Mama and also I think smaller bars are sometimes better since on slow night customers rather go to a slow smaler bar than a slow big bar.

Crystal Palce will not survive. Even after they recently reopened till their Grand opening it has not really been that busy at all. Also the parking really sucks there so many times even if I lan to go there I end up someplace else.

Don't think they can Trump it but pretty sure it has overseas appeal ('laundry' business).

If the bars fail, others of their type (rich, no need work, but still working bar to get more money and feel its texture) will see some twisted value in it and, if it's leveraged enough to give them ulcers and tics, they'll get creative enough to get into some type of trouble. Seen it several times before; no need mention names.

That's why I'm wondering how politics (rail, taxes) and business (rail, land speculation) will affect our beloved 'Koreamoku', as some have penned it. Anyway, I see a Keeaumoku, not Koreamoku, as part of the master plan to make Hawaii competitive as a vacation destination (they not going tear down the Convention Center, hotels, and Ala Moana SS). Guess Kalihi will become the red light district because downtown going get one rail facelift, too.

But the owner does have something to do with the personality and popularity of the place (for me, anyway); the dark figurehead, dominant frontlady, the face, if you will. They do business the K and wahine way and it's amusing to watch.

One former owner was bragging to me that her bar business was successful due to her management of same. She eventually served time in a federal penitentiary for *** *******. They make me laugh. Mo bettah learn from councilman Tam.

I'm guessing that is either Ann or the lady that owned Magazine Girl and Bon Soire.

Crystal Palace is actually in a good spot as they have strip club and hostess licenses. it would not make any sense to turn in any of these as the LC will not grant any more as all new bars must abide by the 500 foot rule. If things got bad, Crystal Palace could also be turned into a nightclub for the kids or an ultra lounge.

The location also matters since seeing some Mamas that had bars at different location that were slow and others that get packed but also matters on the girls on hand at the time.

I agree, the owner makes a heck of difference in a bar. Just compare patty mama at camelot to miki mama at evergreen and you will see the difference. Evergreen is dead much of the time while camelot is usually pretty busy. The girls know too, that's why bars like camelot have top notch girls but crystal palace has older and reject girls.

As for the smaller/larger bar types, again it depends on where guys want to park their butts, some guys like the bars with lots of babes to look at while others like the smaller bars where they might be able to get some action. We all agree that the babes are more ROB types but nice to see eye candy for us and not spend money, I like to sit at butterfly and watch Sue handle the customers but won't spend a dime on her. She knows that she can't hustle me so doesn't even come up to try.

BTW, the whole casino/butterfly area all the way down to Sandy's place was once designated to be tied to ala mo but with the owners (GGP) not doing well that probably won't happen for a number of years, if ever. People could have been land speculating for the future by buying it up.

When I went to Crystal Palace, there are a few booths where there is some possibility of action. Don't fool yourself, if there is a possibility then it could be happenning, but with the girls there now maybe not.

I never went KB in a long time cause of the ROBs. But a friend wanted to try to bar scene out so I took him to Club Butterfly. Sat there for a good ten minutes before a girl or two came. We talked and while we only paid for one drink she bought us two while talking to us, keeping little junior happy, and loved to sing with me. I don't know if the strike is still going on, but hey to the "union members", if you are starting a strike let me join! I'm tired of ROBs! I love the girls that night though, they were pleasing to the eye and nice to us by buying us a drink also. Her name was Ling by the way. Shoot, I don't remember much since I already had 10 beers in me by that time. LOL! Well, PM me if you do intend to boycott a bar or two!
