The police being shit heads has nothing to do with crime. APD is one of the highest paid police departments in the country. When sworn in the mayor of Atlanta provided a raise for all officers before any other legislation was passed. Accountability and satisfactory performance is determined by the mayor's standards. If you're new to this whole personal responsibility and leadership expectations thing then I hope your under 25. Sadly, the current state of the US shows that most don't give a fuck about personal responsibility and accountability. The mayor and the District Attorney rushed to judgement and neither officer will be convicted of any crime. The mayor has emboldened the citizens to challenge the officers at every turn. The officer's have rightfully decided to do the bare minimum. Prior to 2020 , I had been to Atlanta twice. In 2020 I went to Atlanta 4 times (follies in March, the tilted kilt (April) strokers and the new follies in December. I've put up with a lot of shit and hard times. I've bent over backwards to help her. Anything that I could do to help with her life I did. She got the new car I kept the older one. I could go on. I finally had enough when she told me she was interested in sex any longer. I'm like WTF. I packed up and moved out. Best decision I've made. I also started internet dating. Being a 54 yo the amount of divorced and widowed mature women who are search for some mutual sexual fun has been quite fruitful. So after a few dinners and drinks it's pretty much good to go.

Example: today, I happened to be researching the welding industry. I've long had this idea that welding is a great profession for people who didn't go to college, because it's portable work, it's in high demand, and pays well, and this is especially true for underwater welders. But in my research I came across the starting pay for underwater welders as $26/ hour, or $52,000 per year. Pretty far from what I assumed.
Let me put it this way: if I hung my single out right now, "O Services, Underwater Welding", I would have asked for $150-$200 per hour. That's how dumb I am (or was, before reading about it). When I heard that "underwater welding pays well", my brain turned that into $150-$200 per hour (because $300-$400 k per year seems like "a good income" to me).
So, I think this flood of noobs simply aren't pros yet, and just don't know their new industry. They have unrealistic expectations for compensation, and that's reflected in their pricing.
