It has been a long time since I did the AMPs but they were almost all Korean back in the day. I did have a Hawaiian outlier once.

I think with the license law a lot the remaining Chinese stores are having problems getting girls to work here.

And my experience is that Koreans have better English skills on average. But the simple way is the best way. Ask them if their Korean or Chinese. They'll understand that easy question and answer with pride. If Thai, which are rare, they'll let you know. After that, you can use the Google Translate app to communicate if necessary. They use it too. Having a chat usually loosens them up a bit, and they'll treat you more like an actual person when you do the same. I've also found that they like a little humor, and their standards of humor are fairly low. They'll laugh at almost anything silly. Remember.
