That's what makes all of the ads appear on the main pages, without having to load up individual posts for the details and pics. If so, I have seen in the past that if 1 post gets cut off early it leaves open some HTML code (web design stuff) that never closes. This causes some funky things to happen, like all proceeding posts will be highlighted, or hidden, or what have you. This might be what you were experiencing. If that's the cause then browsing to the next page should fix the issue on the second page, since you are no longer seeing the broken post causing the issue.
