1) they are in precisely the wrong spot, which would seem obvious to any cop

I think in most places its impossible logistically to man all cameras but i have been in rooms where there are banks of LCDs on the walls and one or two guys trained in behavioral anomolies looking for stuff while looking at 50 screens at once. However, These are enclosed areas and the survelliance is all based on foot traffic. Much different than city streets.

As far as guys in cars. Boston is too big for that so there would be cameras only at predesignated hotspots. However, in Chelsea the population density and small size of the "track" make it very feasible for one guy at the station to easily notice every single car looping around (there's also a van/cruiser at the bellingham T Stop that just sits on the median). I pass through Chelsea on my way home and do a quick 10 or 15 minute loop which sort of has me looping on and off that track and away from the cameras and Van.

To answer your question, Chelsea has that critical density which makes it so easy for one guy at a bank of LCD screens to monitor the whole "track" effortlessly..For Boston, thats damn near impossible unless you want to bankrupt the cities financial and manpower resources. Chelsea like most things got the camera's from a federal grant. I can assure you no one is viewing those camera's in real time (no grant money for that). HAVnet is a CCTV security system so I thought he was talking about that. I just installed an IP based camera system for rural town, part of much larger control system that has nothing to do with interfering with peoples lives. I have mixed feelings about them, but I can tell you having already tried to pull out images for evidences (vandalism) that they don't work for shit.

My experience (which is not conclusive, just anecdotal) is that the cameras are used as a deterrence and rather than for evidentially purposes. Although the Raytheon system installed in intersections and highways -- takes a hi res picture of you and your license plate and sends automatically sends it you with the presumption of guilt. That system crosses a line on civil rights IMHO.

Of course, this Google 'street view' system is a whole other story. Theres already a guy on this board posting picture of hookers he's caught with that system.

The closest to waltham you will find one is Waltham st ion Boston.

Haven't been out much in the past couple of months. Much prefer cruising on warmer nights as all those winter layers can hide a what appears to be a decent fem turns into a Muskox walking on hind legs once she gets in your car.

My first time posting. I just thought I had to share this with you.

So now I'm panicing cause the other cop is telling me that he can fill out a report form (can remember the name of it) and that he can then go back up the street to find out what really happened and then throw me in jail or the 2nd option is to tell them what really happened. Now I'm like oh shit what do I say. So I ask them do I have to sign or write anything down and they no just tell us what you were doing and we will not arrest you.

So I'm getting real suspicious but since I'm feeling really pressured I give in. What I did? Where did we go to do it? They ask me how much did I pay.

After that he said thank you for your honesty and they have a zero tolerance going on in that area. And let me go.

Fuck now I'm marked. They know me and my car so the next time I go out there they will definatley bust my balls.

Any suggestions! On what to say in those cases in the future and how to get out of it? Any help will greatly be appreciated.

Play it safe around there!. Any place between the Breezeway and the liquor store is a prime set up to get caught by the "boys in blue" or the wanna-be pimps and drug dealers!. This I know only because I've seen it sooooooooooo many times!.
