Trumped up charges are a thing. My money is on these kinds of strong armed tactics being used. Irony is the real criminals are the cops.

When initiating by meeting in public first, what do folks do to sus out whether the provider is not LE?
I got a call recently from the Boston FBI office but didn't pick it up. I got a call last week from an MA number claiming to be the "FBI Prostitution Division" from some other north shore PD number and hung up immediately. Kinda freaking the fuck out. Any advice? What's the right forum for this discussion?

Not sure how I could help them there, though.
The guy on the phone sounded pretty legit to me. Also the phone numbers were real, though I'm sure there are ways to fake a phone number on caller I'd.
I'll just keep ignoring it for now, like the rest of my problems!

I imagine if they found your phone number on some underage SP phone they may have questions for you too but in that case they would more than likely show up at your door. My caller ID even listed the correct phone number of the local FBI. My lawyer had a good laugh when I told him the story (my lawyer knows that I have mongered in the past). He said that the FBI doesn't call up Johns when they investigate trafficking or underage prostitution. They simply show up at your house, usually before 6 am.
